Yabsira Tre Hollinger

Yabsira Hollinger, 26, entered into eternal rest on July 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and friends. His very name means “work of God,” and from early on, he believed in Christ. His time on earth was far too brief, but the lives he touched and the love he gave will remain an enduring testament to a life defined by the depth of his love, not the length of his years. Yabsira’s story began in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, a beautiful nation known as the land of thirteen months of sunshine. There he spent the first four years of his life before embarking on a journey to America alongside his beloved older sister, Mekdes, and parents Malaika “Mikki” and Ryan. His life in the United States started in Snellville and Loganville, where he attended elementary and middle school. As a child, Yabsira—affectionately called “Yabi”—was full of life: a bubbly soul with an infectious smile and boundless curiosity. He found joy in simple things like the roar of cars, the rhythm of music, and pizza—pepperoni, hot or cold. He played T-ball, basketball and football. He learned to swim and loved jumping on a trampoline. So radiant was his charm that it led him to the unique opportunity of appearing in a feature film and several television productions. He adored his family. When his grandparents from New Orleans, Stella and Elton, and his grandparents from Ohio, Norm and Nola, would visit him in Georgia, he could hardly wait. He also loved visiting them in their hometowns, where he was happily spoiled by a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. His dad was his guy, his mom was his anchor, and his world revolved around his sister. As a teen, his love for cars continued, but he also discovered a deep passion for playing music. Although he took formal piano lessons, he possessed the rare gift of playing by ear, and he eventually taught himself to play both the acoustic and electric guitars. When he wasn't creating music, he loved getting lost in the adventures of his favorite video games. Yabsira graduated from Loganville High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. After serving and seeing the world, he made his home in San Diego, California, where he worked for a global energy technology and manufacturing company. There in San Diego, he built a beautiful life surrounded by cherished friends who became family and by loved ones-Geri, Chad, Lynn, and Sean-who knew the depth of his generous heart, his thoughtful nature, and the quiet way he made people feel valued. Yabsira is survived by his loving parents, Malaika and Ryan Hollinger; his beloved sister, Mekdes Hollinger; his treasured grandparents, Stella and Elton Jones of New Orleans, and Norm and Nola Hollinger of Ohio; and a host of deeply loved aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends around the globe who will forever carry his beautiful memory in their hearts. Although our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we are grateful for the gift of “Yabi” and the joy he shared with us. His infectious smile, his passion for music, and the vibrant warmth of his soul will forever remain a part of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on earth may have ended, but the light he gave will remain undimmed in our memories. Yabi, until we meet again, we will remember and honor the little boy you were and the incredible young man you became. We love you so.
