William Moore, Jr

William Moore Jr. was born to William Sr. and Martha Pearl Moore in Damascus, Georgia. At an early age, he gave his life to Christ and became a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. God surely had a plan for his life! As he matured in Christ, he became the Youth Sunday School teacher. As a child, William loved playing basketball. He was also a hard worker, even at a young age. After each school day, he went home to work on the farm to help the family. He was a 1964 graduate of Washington High School, in Blakely, Georgia. He furthered his education and desire to become a master Brick mason by attending and graduating from Monroe Area Vocational Tech School, which is now known as Albany Technical College. That's when his love for creating and building structures flourished. As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, William attended his children's and grandchildren's events. He was definitely their biggest fan. From track, baseball, cheerleading, and basketball, he was always in attendance and smiling proudly. The children equally loved his presence and welcomed a huge hug after each game. That's Big Daddy for you! William was also a man about business. As a well-respected, successful contractor, he was always proud of his craft. And boy, could he calculate numbers in a flash! To all who knew him, he was our personal GPS. He could tell others how to travel based on the building he constructed in that area. Around the job, he was affectionately known as "Doc". His crew knew him to be hardworking, generous, and understanding. William was excellent at reading blueprints, too. He loved his career in masonry and enjoyed sharing all he knew with others. William made his transition to his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. He is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Wilson and son, Carey Moore. To cherish his memory, he leaves his devoted wife, Leila M. Moore, former wife Janet W. Moore and his children includes, daughter- in- love Teresa Moore; Tonya Moore, William Moore III, Rodney Edwards (Min), Lisa Mays (Lamont); granddaughters, Keyonna Green, Portia Carter (Vincent), Tiffany Flynn, Symone Moore, Alexis Edwards and Kennedy Mays; grandsons Carey Moore II, Corey Moore, Dominique Flynn, William Tell, Chandler Mays, and Griffin Mays; siblings Cora Jones (Elix), Flora Reeves and Mary Moore. Brothers, Simon Moore, John Dee Moore, and Robert Moore (Mary). A host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
