Susan Wells-Richardson, age 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on February 19, 1952, Susan lived a life marked by kindness, strength, grace, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She possessed a beautiful spirit that touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Family was the center of her world, and she dedicated her life to loving, supporting, and encouraging those around her. Susan was a gifted musician and accomplished flute player whose talent brought joy to many. Whether through music, laughter, or a simple act of kindness, she had a remarkable ability to make others feel seen, valued, and loved. Her gentle heart, infectious smile, and enduring love for her family will remain her lasting legacy. Above all, Susan loved Jesus Christ. Her faith sustained her throughout her life and carried her through the challenges of illness in her later years. While she often spoke honestly about the uncertainty and nervousness that accompanied thoughts of death, she also found great comfort and hope in the promises of her Savior. She is preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Norma Ruth Wells; her beloved husband, Rich Richardson; and her sister, Grace. Susan is survived by sister, Linda Coon; her son, Jason Schrock of Covington, Georgia; and her daughter and son-in-law, Sonja and Trey Phillips of Covington, Georgia. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Madelyn Phillips, Kai Phillips, Austin (Mannon) Phillips of Covington, Georgia; Haley Phillips (Nathan Buice) of Zebulon, Georgia; and David (Kaleigh) Miller of Conyers, Georgia. Susan was further blessed with and deeply adored her great-grandchildren: Laiken Buice, Jaxon Buice, and Sandler Jacob Miller. A devoted daughter, sister, niece, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Susan’s love knew no bounds. She was the heart of many family gatherings, a source of encouragement during difficult times, and a steadfast example of resilience. Though her presence will be deeply missed, the memories she created, the faith she lived, and the love she shared will continue to guide and inspire those who knew her. While our hearts grieve her absence, we rejoice in the assurance that this is not goodbye, but merely a temporary separation. Susan’s earthly journey has ended, but her eternal one has just begun. Her song continues now in the presence of her Savior, and one day, those who love her will see her again. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 11:00 AM at Gregory B.
