Mr. Ronald McIntyre passed Friday April 10, 2026. Celebration of life services will take place Friday May 8, 2026 at 11am. World Changers Church International 2500 Burdett Rd, College Park, GA 30349. Please express your love and condolences here on the website. Ronald McIntyre was born June 20 1954, in Brooklyn, New York to Sue and Oscar McIntyre. Affectionately known as “Ron,” “Ronnie,” or “Mac” by friends and family; he showed an early interest in theater and Black history. After graduating from John Adams High School in 1972, he went on to attend Manhattan’s Baruch College. Ron’s love for culture and the arts led to an early career in theater--acting and producing shows at New York’s premier Billie Holiday Theater. While attending Baruch, Ronald McIntyre met Melody Peoples on the dance floor, and after 4 years of dating, married August 1, 1981. Together they shared 43 wonderful years, building a life full of love, laughter, and family. In 1991, Ron and Melody moved their new family from Brooklyn to Atlanta. Though Ron made a career in management and ultimately retired from the City of Atlanta’s Department of Watershed, his love for theater never wavered. In Atlanta, Ron worked for Jomandi Productions, Georgia’s oldest and largest Black theater company, and produced and managed for various productions, most notably Black Nativity. Independently, Ron wrote and produced his own plays including, A Piece of My Mind: A Group of Black Men and Boys SPEAK! and The Devil is Busy, but My God Never Sleeps. Family meant everything to Ron. He is deeply mourned and lovingly remembered by his daughters, Nia and Imani; son-in-law, Kriston; grandson, Zaire; and a host of cousins, lifelong friends and spiritual brothers, in-laws and loved ones. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Lelia; parents, Sue and Oscar; and wife, Melody, Outside of work and family, Ron enjoyed the sounds of Motown, laughing, reminiscing and catching up with friends, church, debate, news, history, and politics, He had a way of making everyone around him feel safe and important, In his final curtain call, Ron will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, witty sense of humor, wisdom, strength, resilience and larger-than-life personality. Though he is no longer with us physically, his spirit, love, and legacy will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
