Mr. Richard Williams

Richard Williams was born on January 7, 1945 in Lowndes County, Alabama to the late Sellers Williams, Sr. and Susie Harris Williams. He was the eighth of 11 children born to this union. On September 18, 2014 God called home his good and faithful servant. Richard graduated from Calhoun High School in 1964 and was drafted into the United States Army in 1968. He served his Country for 2 years in Vietnam. Upon returning home from the war he resided in Atlanta, GA. He was married on August 1, 1982 to Sylvia Annette Sullivan. They have 1 daughter, Deonna. He and Sylvia have been faithful members of Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur, GA for over 30 years under the leadership of the Reverend Jerry D. Black. Richard was a dedicated employee of Owens-Illinois in Atlanta, GA for 42 years. A man of few words but his actions spoke volumes. He was a gentle and quiet spirit, always willing to help family, friends and neighbors in whatever way he could. He will be remembered as being a devoted and loving husband to his wife Sylvia of 32 years and father to his daughter Deonna, who he is very proud of. A God fearing man who loved and worshiped the Lord through the good times and the storms of life. He was preceded in death by his brother Sellers (Katie) Williams Jr., sisters; Willie Mae (Silas) Alexander, Clara (Sylvester) Davis, Dora (Tommy) Gardner and Susie Williams. He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife, Sylvia Sullivan Williams; daughter, Deonna Williams of St. Petersburg, FL; siblings, Joseph Williams, Burkville, AL; Rozena (Henry-deceased)Carr, Chicago, IL; Irene Williams Burkeville, AL; Julia Coleman, Montgomery, AL; and John A. Williams(Debra)Sr. Burkeville, AL; father and mother- in- law, Lewis and Deloris Sullivan, Woodbine, GA; Sister-in-laws, Cathy Owens, Enterprise, AL; Sandra Sullivan, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Jennie Jones, St. Marys, GA; Kim(James) Robinson, Decatur, GA; Brother-in-laws, Sylvester Davis, Montgomery, AL; Lewis (Precious) Sullivan III, Stockbridge, GA; Rickey Sullivan, St. Marys, GA; John W. Sullivan, Covington, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and neighbors. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church of Jesus Christ, 4694 State Hwy 21, South Lowndesboro, AL 36752. Interment at McQueens Cemetery, Hayneville, AL 36040.
