Mr. Neville Baldwin Sterling

Neville Sterling. A devoted husband, father, mentor, brother, son, and cherished friend. Neville departed this life peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and compassion that touched countless lives. Neville was a pillar in his community and lived a life marked by service to others. He was an amazing husband, a loving and present father, and a true friend to many. As a dedicated Upward Basketball coach for his daughters for many years, and a leader and board member at Gwinnett Christian Academy, Neville guided and inspired young people, including leading the school’s seniors on a life-changing mission trip to Jamaica. A man of deep faith, Neville was ordained as an Elder at Eagles Community Church, where he served on the board of trustees for many years and pioneered both the children’s and adult Sunday School programs. He also went on several mission trips with Johnson Ferry Baptist Church and served on the men’s board for Cedine Ministries, contributing to their Family Relations Conference. More recently, he faithfully taught the high school boys’ Life Group at Church On Main, continuing his passion for mentoring and shaping the next generation. Neville also had a gift for building community among men, organizing a long-running men’s breakfast at Golden Corral on Highway 78. All who shared those mornings with him will remember his commitment to Christian brotherhood and mentoring. A natural athlete from a young age, Neville served as Assistant Captain of the St. Mary’s Anglican Youth Football team and was an active member of the St. Mary’s Anglican Youth Fellowship. He also represented Wolmer’s High School in table tennis, field hockey, and darts. His early years were deeply rooted in both sports and community, shaped by his involvement at St. Mary’s Anglican Church. Beyond his ministry and leadership, Neville found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. One of his favorite traditions was deep-sea fishing in Destin, Florida, a cherished annual trip with his longtime friend Cesar that spanned more than 25 years. He was eagerly looking forward to their next trip this June. Of all his roles, Neville was most proud of being a father. His daughters, Hannah Faith and Madison Gabrielle, were the light of his life and the greatest joy of his heart. Neville is survived by his loving wife, Joycelyn Sterling, his daughters, his parents Juliet Sterling (West Palm Beach, FL) and Owen Sterling (Orlando, FL), his brother Norman Sterling (Lavern), his sister Joan Lee, and his brother Owen “Maxi” Sterling (Paula). He leaves behind a wide circle of family, friends, church members, and mentees who were blessed by his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering faith. Neville will be truly missed but his legacy of love, faith, and service will live on through all who knew him.
