Marsha Lavonne Frazier

As we retrace the footprints of Marsha Lavonne Bizzell-Frazier, “Nana” to all she met, we can only give thanks for the many lives she touched and enriched along life’s journey. She enjoyed many of God’s blessings as a child, a mother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, and a true friend. Marsha was born in San Bernardino, California on November 1, 1946 to Ora Lee “Nannie” Simpson and Isaac Bizzell. She was baptized at the early age of eleven at New Hope Baptist Church in San Bernardino, California where she sang in the youth choir. Marsha matriculated through the city of San Bernardino School System. She was a member of the San Bernardino Pacesetters Drill Team. Marsha graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1965. In school, she played basketball and ran track all while telling everyone else what they were suppose to do. She then attended San Bernardino Valley College and later enrolled in “Operation Second Chance”- School of Opportunities where she completed her “ Certificate in Business” before taking a job with the City of San Bernardino. After working 20 years Marsha retired from the City of San Bernardino - Economic Development Agency where she served as a faithful city employee. Marsha Frazier the widower of Archie Frazier, was the mother of one son, Deymon Xavier (Alesia) and one daughter Tareyn Danelle. Nana’s pride and joy was her family, especially her grandchildren Mauryssa Dominique, Malique Alexander James, and Deymon Xavier Jr. This matriarch knew the Lord and believed in raising up the child in the way he/she should go. Marsha moved to Atlanta in 2001, fell in love the tall green trees and open space and though she missed her native California she had found her second home. She was an active member of Antioch Lithonia Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, was a member of the NTO’s, and enjoyed her Sunday school class. Marsha was also proud to tell everyone that she was a 2 time completer of the BSF bible study series. She was also a stand up Christian comedian, a member of the Red Hatters, an actor with the Silver Wings Performing Arts Troupe, she danced with the Lou Walker Highlighters line dancing troupe, and was a gold medalist in the Senior Olympics in the device assisted 100 yard dash. She could make you tired just trying to keep up! And of course, no story about Marsha Frazier would be complete without mentioning her southern girl, back in stride again, happy feelings Frankie Beverly and her 49ers. Marsha, our beloved “Nana” lived and loved life and you rarely went long without a laugh and a smile when in her presence. Marsha entered into eternal rest the evening of August 24th, 2022. She was preceded in death by her father Isaac Bizell and mother Ora Lee Simpson and leaves to cherish her memory her son Deymon Xavier (Alesia), her daughter Tareyn Danelle, 3 grandchildren Mauryssa, Malique, and Deymon Jr., 2 brothers Robert Bivens (Lajuana) and Alvin Simpson, sister/cousins Toni Scott (Roger) and Gertrude Blakely (Larry deceased), Childhood Best Friends Nel Clark, Esther Huggins, Betty Ford, and Toni Moore and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
