Lillian Ayers, 85, of Griffin, GA passed on Saturday March 18, 2023. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday March 25, 11 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Griffin, GA. She was the twelfth of thirteen children born to this union. Lillian was raised on her father’s farm in Monroe “behind the mountain” as it was referred to by she and her siblings over the years as they told the later generations of the struggles that the Jackson children thought they had endured, but in later years came to realize that they were “rich in ways that they never knew.” Lillian’s Journey Lillian was educated in the public schools of Walton Count. She attended Social Circle Training High School and graduated in the class of 1955. She later moved to Atlanta, Georgia for greater opportunities. Lillian was united in marriage to Lewis Holmes, Jr. in Atlanta, Georgia in, 1957, who preceded her in death in 1982. There were no children to this union. Lillian later met the love of her life, Henry Michael Ayers, they were united in Holy Matrimony in 1990 and lived as Honeymooners in Sun City Peachtree Senior Community, Griffin, Georgia until his death in 2018. Lillian gave her life to Christ at an early age and never failed to acknowledge God in all her ways, to give God the Glory for everything the Lord had done for her. She loved God and Her Faith was always in tack as she not only studied the Word of God, but she lived the Word of God. She was a long-time member of Bearden Temple in Reynold Town, Atlanta, GA under the Leadership of Reverend James Kenner where she taught Sunday School to the children. In her later years after moving to Griffin, Georgia she became a faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Griffin, GA under the Pastorship of Pastor Dr. Cleopatrick Lacey until she answered the Divine Call unto eternity. Lillian’s Legacy Lillian was the epitome of Love, very soft spoken, she always shared and expressed genuine love and care to her family, friends and everyone she met. She not only had a famous saying but she lived by “there is good in everybody, treat others the way you want to be treated”. She was known for her “green thumb” of having house plants, small outside gardening of vegetables and a yard of beautiful flowers. The greatest cake baker and buttermilk cornbread maker you’d ever want to encounter. She lovingly and faithfully committed to the Epstein Family for 23 years where four children were nurtured with love, as these children to this day still affectionately calls her Momma. Their testimonies are “she was a gift in our home growing up and taught them much about respect and life”. The message of “if you can do anything, be kind” has been a great foundation for us all. She later embraced a professional career with Creative Community Services and Kemper Insurance Company where she retired in 2007. Divine Departure Obituary Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Henry M. Ayers, her parents Arthur Jackson, Sr. and Effie Jackson, brothers Albert Cleveland Jackson, Arthur Hillman Jackson, Jr., Joe Henry Jackson, Leroy Douglas Jackson, Reonous Herman Jackson, Horace Lemuon Jackson, Luther Jackson, and Paul Nathaniel Jackson, sisters Bessie Mae Jackson Thomas, Luerene Jackson Evans, Bridie Ruth Jackson Slaton, Grace Effie Jackson White Lillian peacefully answered the Divine Calling to Transition and Enter into Eternity. She departed this side on Saturday, March 18, 2023 in the comfort of her home with love ones.
