James Gas, 77, of Norcross, GA passed on Tuesday March 28, 2023. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Monday April 3, 11 Am in our chapel. Visitation will be on Sunday April 2, from 12-5 PM. Gas, into this world. James was born at home, on Dorothy Street, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a student in the Fulton County School System and attended Booker T. Washington High School. On November 8, 1965, James married Carolyn Wimbley. This union was blessed with five children, James Jr., Zena, Aaron, Damian, and Derrick. In his professional career, James worked as a landscaper for the state of Georgia and the Georgia Building Authority, at the Governor’s Mansion, from 1986 - 2007. He retired after 21 years of committed service. He loved Gospel music and enjoyed singing and praising God in the kitchen with a cup of coffee. He was not a religious man but he feared the Lord and enjoyed hearing and reading the Bible. In fact, the Bible was the only book that he would read. He enjoyed watching several televangelists including Joyce Meyers, T.D. Jakes, Creflo Dollar, and Jimmy Swaggert, to name a few. James was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Gas; his parents, Mack and Rosa Lee; his sisters, Katherine and Dorothy Lee; two sons, James Jr. and Derrick, and grandson Terrell. His legacy continues through his loving children, Zena Taylor (Duane), Aaron Gas, and Damian Gas (Elizabeth); his grandchildren, Derrick, James, Tramaine, Brittany (Lukell), Aaron Jr. (Bianca), Gerald, Erin, Kiera and Iman; His great grandchildren, Arianna, Jakobi, Jade, Taraj, Tayshawn, Tequoiya, Kavosie, Semaj, Amelia, Enoch, Myshawn, Moneigh, De’Erika, De’Asia, De’Andrea, Derrick III, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He fought a good fight, kept the faith, and touched many lives. We honored him in his life. He will be missed, loved, and FOREVER LIVE IN THE HEARTS of his family (and his friends on the West Side).
