James Bush

James Bush was born on November 17, 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Evans Bush and Lizzie Easley Bush. On August 27, 2026, at the age of 81, James peacefully departed this earthly life, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, family, and cherished memories. James grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, where he attended Princeton Elementary School and Western-Olin High School. He also attended Daniel Payne College in Birmingham, Alabama. The values instilled in him during his early years—hard work, dedication, loyalty, and love for family—remained evident throughout his life. With great pride and honor, James answered the call to serve his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served faithfully and was honorably discharged as a United States Army veteran. His service to his country remained a distinguished part of his life and reflected the strength, courage, and commitment that defined the man he was. Following his military service, James built a long and dedicated career with Norfolk Southern Railway. He worked as a train conductor for 36 years before retiring in 2004. His years on the railroad represented more than a career; they reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for the family he loved so dearly. Family was at the heart of James’s life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend. On May 18, 1969, James married the love of his life, Rose Perkins. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, and memories that would span generations. James was a devoted Christian whose faith in God remained an important foundation throughout his life. He loved the Lord and carried his faith with him through life’s joys, challenges, and seasons of change. His trust in God helped shape the way he loved his family, served others, and lived each day. James knew how to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Some of his greatest joys were watching baseball, going fishing, and cooking. Whether enjoying a baseball game, spending time near the water with a fishing rod in hand, preparing something good to eat, or simply being surrounded by the people he loved, James found happiness in moments that brought family and fellowship together. James was preceded in death by his parents, Evans Bush and Lizzie Easley Bush, and his siblings, Emmett Bush, Jessie Rawshaw, and Herbert Bush. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Rose Bush; daughter, Adrienne (Jeffrey) Wright; son, Kevin (Shycrea) Bush; and grandchildren: Nicholas Bush; Demi (Joshua) Matthews; Cameron Bush; and Kaden Bush. He also leaves one brother, Hubert (Catherine) Bush, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were touched by his presence.
