Jaishawn Sevin Overstreet

Today, we honor the life of Jaishawn Sevin Overstreet, who departed this world to join the angels on April 29th, 2024, at the age of 16. Born on May 29, 2007, in Lawrenceville, GA, Jaishawn was a beloved Junior at Berkmar High School, where his vibrant presence and infectious laughter illuminated every room he entered. Jaishawn was known for his boundless humor, effortlessly bringing joy to those around him. A true mama's boy, he held a deep and unconditional love for his mother, Tamyka (Jay) Thomas, and his father, Johnathan (Cydnee) McNeal. He is also survived by his siblings, Curtis and Caira Newman, Jayla Simpson, and Bryson McNeal, as well as his step-sisters Jania and Ayanna Thomas. Jaishawn is also survived by his grandmothers, Renita (Nana) McNeal and Brenda (Leroy) Ross, his grandfather, Jerry (Kathy) Overstreet, uncles, Brian Harvey McNeal and Larry Monroe Jr, aunts, Jerika (Victor) Brown, Lavityka Overstreet, Alicia (Seneca) Bell, LaRae (Dekarius) Pitts, and nephew Carter Newman. He had two bonus grandmothers, Josephine (B) and Sandra Crawley, aunt Mary (John) Hill, a great-grandmother, Lillie Bates, and an extra special cousin, Marie Oxner. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Larry Monroe Sr, great-grandparents William and Edna McNeal, great-grandfathers James Bates and William Overstreet, great-grandmother Lorene Briggs, and a bonus grandmother, Catherine Crawley. Jaishawn found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from skating to four-wheeling, and horseback riding. He dedicated himself to his after-school job as an assistant content creator, taking immense pride in his work and leaving a lasting impact on all he collaborated with. Beyond his laughter and adventures, Jaishawn possessed a heart of gold. His acts of kindness, both grand and subtle, touched the lives of all who knew him. Though he may have appeared tough on the outside, Jaishawn was a gentle giant, filled with love and compassion. His genuine smile had the power to uplift even the heaviest of hearts. Jaishawn will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will forever be cherished in the hearts of those he touched.
