Mrs. Ingrid Delrose Moodie

Ingrid Delrose Moodie was born on February 15, 1951 in Kingston, Jamaica to Joyce Millicent Anglin and stepfather Oliver Anglin. Ingrid attended GA instead High School in Jamaica before migrating to the United States with her mother in May 1968, settling in the Bronx, NY. Once in the Bronx, Ingrid attended and graduated from Theordore Roosevelt High School on Fordham Road. Ingrid always believed in hard work, she had worked as an Associate at Alexander’s Department Store on Fordham Road. At this time, Ingrid had a passion for nursing and accepted a position as a Candy Striper at St. Joseph’s Hospital, which is now known as, St. Barnabas Hospital. That passion while fulfilling was not long lived as she couldn’t stand the sight of blood! Ingrid, then went to work at Monterey Early Childhood Daycare center and found a new love in helping and educating children at the early stages in their lives. Ingrid, then went back to school, attended Lehman College and obtained her master’s degree in early childhood. She became a Director for Sheilds Institute for Children and was over multiple Daycare Centers in the Bronx for over 30 plus years before retiring. She was also an active member of Tremont United Methodist Church. In June 1976, Ingrid married her first love Donovan Moodie and with this union she gained three loving stepdaughters: Tanya, Heather “Renee” and Natasha and treated them as her own. Ingrid and Donovan then decided to purchase their first family home in Rosedale, Queens, NY and went on to have two children of their own: Natalie and Donovan, Jr. Ingrid, was a devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother. In the neighborhood, she was a mother to many. Always, welcoming everyone in her home with open arms and doors. If you were hungry, she would feed you; If you were cold- she would clothe you and feed you; If you needed a place to stay, for whatever reason, she would provide shelter for you in her home and feed you! Even though space was limited at the house, she would make it work, even if it entailed one of her kids giving up their room! She was known as the “Neighborhood Mom”. She has helped so many children receive an early education because this was Key to her. Ingrid, enrolled the children of family members in her daycare center, as well as her children’s friends' children. She didn’t just enroll them; she drove them to and from Daycare, from Queens to the Bronx everyday- most will understand just how far that is! She was a true servant of God. Ingrid, enjoyed traveling, especially, on road trips- she was the Best Co-Pilot; she enjoyed watching her favorite TV Shows and movies and let’s not forget her court shows, Judge Judy specifically. And of course, Snapped! Ingrid, leaves behind her loving husband of 47yrs; Daughter: Natalie Moodie, Son: Donovan Moodie, Jr; Grandchildren: Sydney Moodie, Donovan Moodie III (Trey) and Dylan Moodie; as well as, her stepchildren and grandchildren, Aunts, Uncles and a host of cousins. Mommy, although you are gone too soon, we will never forget the life values and lessons you have instilled in us...Hardwork, Kindness, Gratefulness, Humility, Love, Strength, Faith and the Importance of Giving without expectation. You are our Rock and the Glue that held everything together. You are Iconic! Just know we have it from here and we keep you inside us and will also carry your memory with us. You have truly left a footprint for us and now it’s your time to rest. Mommy, we love you, we miss you. This is not goodbye, because we will see each other again. So, for now, Sleep in Heavenly Peace Queen, you deserve it. You can now trade in your cane for a glass champagne!
