With profound sadness we announce the passing of Harvey Kelley, age 68. Celebration of Life service will be held at 1PM Monday, September 26, 2022 at Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home SOUTH DEKALB CHAPEL 4347 Flat Shoals Pkwy Decatur, GA 30034. Harvey Alexander Kelley - was born on September 11, 1954, in Salisbury, MD in Wicomico County. He was the fourth child of the late William E. and Queenie V. Kelley. Harvey departed this life on Thursday, September 16, 2022, at the age of 68. Harvey received his education in Wicomico County, Maryland. He was a graduate of Wicomico High Senior School Class of 1972. While matriculating at WiHi he was a scholar athlete and ideal student participating in many activities to include senior class historian, varsity football and varsity track. He received several recognitions and awards in these sports. Harvey received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Economics from Salisbury State University, where he was also one of the original members of the SSU Inaugural Football team in 1972. In 1982, Harvey relocated to Atlanta, GA to start a new career to begin his life. In doing so, he held several jobs before co-founding the family business Akil Inc. Real Estate Development Company alongside his brother Wesley, sister Brenda and other relatives. While living in Georgia, Harvey continued his love of sports playing on several semi-professional softball teams. Harvey was a founding member the Black Newcomers Network (BNN) and coach of the BNN co-ed teams in Atlanta, GA. He was also a coach and special advisor of the South Dekalb Association for Super Special Youth & Adults softball team (SASSY). Harvey was an avid chess player and a great debater. He was always up for a challenge with topics of politics and religion. Miles away from Salisbury, MD Harvey stayed connected with family as President of the Brown, Butler, Bing family reunion for several years. He was preceded in death by his father and mother William and Queenie Kelley of Salisbury, MD, and brother William Ronald Kelley of Salisbury, MD. Harvey leaves to cherish his beautiful daughters Beatrice Kelley of Atlanta, Ga; Shelita Dunlap (Alton) of West Palm, FL; Renita King (Jamaal) of Delmar, DE; grands Amber and Alton Dunlap of West Palm, FL; Amara King, Noah Stewart, Kye Stewart all of Delmar, DE; sister Brenda Kelley of Stonecrest, GA; sister Margo Kelley of Baltimore, MD; brother Wesley Kelley of Stone Mountain, GA; sister Debbie Cook (David) of Mardela Springs, MD; nephew Jamaal Kelley of Stonecrest, GA; cousin Linda Brown, of Bowie, MD a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and a large extended family of friends.
