Harry "Jo Jo" Lee Ramsey Jr.

Harry Lee Ramsey, Jr., affectionately known as “Jo Jo,” entered eternal rest on September 15, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on February 27, 1946, in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the beloved son of the late Harry L. Ramsey, Sr., and Cecelia Willis Ramsey. Proud of his roots, Jo Jo carried the true essence of being an Atlanta “Grady Baby.” Jo Jo was a man of strength, kindness, humor, and wisdom, whose presence left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He lived a life filled with generosity, warmth, love, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He was a 1964 graduate of C.L. Harper High School and later attended Dekalb Community College. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve his country with honor in the United States Army. Following his military service, Jo Jo began a distinguished career with Roadway Express Trucking Company, where he proudly worked as a truck driver for 30 years. His work ethic, reliability, and dedication earned him the respect of colleagues and peers alike. Jo Jo was first united in marriage to Deborah, with whom he shared the blessing of family and lasting memories. He was later blessed with many cherished years of marriage to his beloved wife, Carolyn, who preceded him in death. He faithfully served as treasurer of Greater Love Temple Ministries, where he gave his life to Christ and was baptized. He was an active member and financial secretary of the C.L. Harper High School Alumni Class of 1964. Jo Jo enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, listening to music, card games, sports, and do-it-yourself projects. He especially delighted in his role as a father and grandfather. He was well known for his quick wit, memorable sayings, and his ability to bring laughter and joy wherever he went. He never allowed anyone to leave his home without a piece of advice—or at least a good laugh. He leaves to treasure his memory three devoted children, Janda Ramsey, Tia Perry, and Ronald Perry; two adored grandchildren, Jayla Foster and Braylen Perry; siblings, Anita Minniefield (Robert), Gregory D. Ramsey (Beverly), and Cecil “Rickey” Ramsey; devoted companion, Doris “Dee Dee” Jordan; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and countless friends. Though Jo Jo has departed this life, the love, wisdom, and laughter he shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. Services entrusted to Gregory B.
