Gerald A. Cross Jr.

Gerald Alonzo Cross Jr was born February 4, 1974, to Gerald Alonzo Cross Sr and Johann Hannon Towns in Louisville, KY. He quietly departed this earthly life in Snellville, GA on March 27, 2024. He was preceded in death by his mother, Johann. Gerald was welcomed into Christ’s Body, the church and confirmed on April 29, 1984, at The Church of Our Merciful Saviour in Louisville, KY. Gerald, affectionately known as “Papoose” to family, “G” to some and “Cross” to others, left Louisville, KY and moved to Atlanta, GA in 1986 with his mother Johann when he was twelve years old in search of a new life and opportunities in the larger city. As a teen, he attended Christ School, a boarding school, in Arden, NC for one year where he experienced many life- changing skills including flying a plane. He graduated from Cedar Grove High School Ellenwood, GA in 1992. In his professional years, Gerald worked at NTB (defunct), a security manager at Motorola for Securitas in Lawrenceville, GA, Georgia Real Estate Appraiser, driver supervisor at United Distributors in Smyrna, GA, and a petroleum truck driver at Keystone Petroleum in Atlanta GA. In 2022, he started a podcast, R & G at the Crossroads on YouTube with his friend Roosevelt Gillums to spread messages of positivity and upliftment of his community. Gerald never met a stranger. He always had kind words of encouragement and wisdom for people. He was an intelligent man with a curious mind. He was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, nephew, friend and child of the Most High God. He loved and cherished his family. His smile, laugh and love will be greatly missed. He leaves to cherish his memories are his father, Gerald A. Cross Sr (Elaine) of Louisville, KY; a loving wife of 15 years, Latreka Willis Cross of Snellville, GA; sons, Marcus A. Cross of Tucker GA and Raja K. Cross of Snellville, GA; brother, Aaron Akeem Towns of Decatur, GA; aunts, Michelle Hannon McAtee and Michele Cross Ezedi (Paul) of Louisville, KY, and Rilea Hannon Terry of Tucker, GA; uncles, Winfried Cross (Jennifer) of Louisville, KY, Ruben Cross (Othello) of Huntsville, AL, and Marc Hannon of Dallas, TX; numerous cousins, relatives and friends. Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on SATURDAY, April 6, 2024 at 11:00AM at our Rockdale Chapel. These services will be recorded and streamed live.
