Mr. Dennison B. Ellis

Denison Blanchard Ellis, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend, departed this life on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Denison was born the third child of five to the late Dennis H. and Grace B. Ellis in New York, New York, on April 10, 1959. He lived his childhood and attended schools in New Rochelle, NY. Denison met his soul-mate and the love of his life, Beverly McNeill while attending the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1979. In 1985, they moved to Temple Hills, MD and on October 28, 1985, the two were married in a private ceremony. Of this union, they raised two children, Denison Jordan and Genesis Imani. He was also the proud grandfather of two year old, Adrianna Malia Ellis, who adoringly refers to him as "Pop-Pop". Denison attended Ithaca College and SUNY Binghamton and studied Computer Information Technology. He earned several IT certifications and in 1986, became certified as an Oracle Database Administrator which launched his career as an IT professional. After being recruited for a DBA assignment with Coca-Cola Company, Denison relocated his family to Atlanta, Georgia in 1994. Denison was an avid family man who was very involved in his children's educational and extracurricular activities. He assisted with the coaching and direction of his son "DJ's" basketball teams and could always be found at any scheduled game his children were involved in. He loved all sports, in particular basketball and tennis. As an IT consultant, Denison often traveled for business but always planned to have his family join him when possible. For several years, the family enjoyed Christmas holidays in Disney World, Orlando and at his death, was planning to take his first granddaughter to Disney World for her third birthday in June. Denison loved his family and would show delight when talking about his granddaughter. Denison recently reaffirmed his relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and attended Hope and Life Church in Snellville, GA. He leaves to cherish in memory, his loving wife of 27 years, Beverly; two children, Denison Jordan and Genesis Imani, his adoring granddaughter, Adrianna; brother, Brook Ellis (Marion) of Detroit, MI; three sisters, Corby Ellis-Mare (Adama) of Harlem, NY, Courtney Lee (Donald) of Grayson, GA and Thorne Summers (Blaine) of Decatur, GA; sister in-laws, Angela Bowman of Elmont, NY, Louise Steward of St. Albans, Queens, NY, Lisa McNeill of Athens, GA, and brother-in-law, James W. McNeill (Trumella) of Jamaica, Queens, NY, grandmother-in-law, Louise Ellis of Washington, DC as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and dear friends. Denison’s presence, joyfulness and laughter will be greatly missed. He was truly the life of all our family gatherings, however big or small. Denison, we love you and miss you.
