Mrs. Cinnie Lee Stringer

Cinnie Lee was born May 11, 1934, in Carlton, GA to the union of John and Rissie Cunningham. She was one of 11 children. She had great love and respect for her parents and often shared memorable and humorous stories of her early childhood. Being one of the oldest siblings, she was resourceful and never short on words. When her mother got sick, Cinnie helped out by being a caregiver and handling things around the house and was looked upon as “Mother.” She very deservingly earned the respect and love of her siblings. She received her secondary education in the Duluth Public Schools. Cinnie acknowledged Christ as her personal savior at an early age where she later joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Oakwood, GA. She remained a devoted and faithful servant of the Lord until her health began to fail her. She was united in holy matrimony to Eugene Stringer of Flowery Branch, GA for over 49 years. They devoted their lives to one another where they were blessed with 7 beautiful children and one adopted son. When the family later moved to Buford, GA, Cinnie united with the Union Baptist Church where she provided many dedicated years and faithful service as a member of the Mother’s Board. Senior Choir, Hospitality Committee, and the Finance Committee. Cinnie was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She never left her family without a hot breakfast even if it meant rising before sunrise. She was a strict disciplinarian with a very quick hand, always steering her children on the right path. Cinnie’s children were the pride of her life. For those who knew her, Cinnie’s inner strength and trust in God were demonstrated when 3 of her children preceded her in death. She was seen by many as “a rock”, “solid”, “and unmovable”, even in the face of tragedies. During and following the loss of her children, Cinnie continued to give encouragement to others during their time of trials and never wavered from praising the Lord for her life. Cinnie’s favorite holiday was Christmas, the celebration of the birth of Christ. She always looked forward to family gatherings at her home because she had a passion for cooking. Her home was filled with chatter and laughter of family and friends and all of the joy that comes with the celebration of the Christmas season. She looked forward every year to hosting the Cunningham Family Reunion. She invented reasons to celebrate so that she could cook. If you were sick in the community, she would feed you until you were able to fend for yourself again. Cinnie peacefully passed away on April 6 with her children and grandchildren by her bedside. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Rissie Cunningham, her husband of 49 years Eugene Stringer, 2 daughters, Betty and Doris Stringer, and one son Douglas Stringer, her siblings, Louise, Walter, Freddie, John Willie, and George C. She leaves to celebrate her homegoing and cherish her loving memory 5 children, Alice Moore, Joyce (Larry) Kinsey, Dorothy (Jimmy) Favors Kenneth Sr and Kenneth Jr., a very devoted sister and special brother in law Maebelle (Walter) Murray. 2 brothers Jimmy Cunningham, Roosevelt (Martha) Cunningham, 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and special friends Elizabeth Rippy, Claudine Randolph, Helen Norwood, and Min. Barbara Hinton.
