Charlotte Harvey

A TIME TO BE BORN Ms. Charlotte Harvey was born on August 3, 1942, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Willie Stephens and Christine Harvey. From the very beginning, Charlotte possessed a strong spirit, a loving heart, and a vibrant personality that would touch countless lives. A TIME TO PLANT Charlotte received her education through the Atlanta Public School System, attending English Avenue Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1960. Throughout her life, Charlotte worked diligently in the hospitality industry, holding positions with Old Hickory House, Southern Tea, and Morrison Cafeteria, among others. While employed at Morrison Cafeteria, she met the love of her life, Calvin Lloyd. Their union was blessed with four children and many cherished memories. At an early age, Charlotte accepted Christ and joined Wheat Street Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Dr. William Holmes Borders, where she began her lifelong journey of faith. A TIME TO LAUGH AND A TIME TO REMEMBER Charlotte, affectionately known as "Red," was truly one of a kind. She never met a stranger and was known for speaking her mind, offering advice whether you asked for it or not, and keeping everyone around her laughing. Her wisdom, honesty, and unforgettable personality left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She loved wearing her signature leopard prints and her favorite color, red. Shopping at K&G was one of her favorite pastimes, and she rarely passed up a good bargain. Charlotte was also a talented hairdresser who took pride in helping others look and feel their best. She enjoyed dancing, spending time with family, sipping on an ice-cold Coca-Cola, and sharing stories from her beloved hometown of Atlanta. As her health began to decline, her daughter Carlicia and son-in-law Stephen lovingly welcomed her into their home, where she was cared for with dignity, compassion, and unwavering love until her transition. A TIME TO LIVE Charlotte was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Calvin Lloyd; her sons, Anthony Lloyd and Maurice Lloyd; her grandson, Shanchez Lloyd; her granddaughter, Keniya Lloyd; her parents, Charles and Christine Griggs; her brother, Calvin Dean; her sister, Regina Davis; and her grandparents, Charlie and Rochelle Harvey. On June 1, 2026, Charlotte peacefully entered eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, laughter, and resilience. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her two devoted daughters, Felicia Lloyd and Carlicia Wade (Stephen); her sister, Brenda Griggs; her devoted granddaughters, LaKendra Wyatt of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Kayla Wade; her devoted grandson and caregiver, Joseph Lloyd; her nephews, Durante Davis of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Larry Davis; one aunt, Margaret Harvey; 24 grandchildren (12 granddaughters and 12 grandsons); 37 great-grandchildren (25 great grandsons and 12 great granddaughters); one great-great-grandson, Amius Lloyd; and a host of loving relatives, friends, neighbors, and all whose lives were blessed by her presence. A TIME FOR PEACE Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we rejoice in knowing that Charlotte's work here is done. Her laughter, wisdom, love, and unforgettable spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
