Mr. Charles Boykins Jr

Charles Boykins Jr. (better known as "Gobo Bam" to friends & family) was born on June 04, 1939 to the late Charles Boykin and the late Sarah Boykins. He departed this life on Sunday June 01, 2025. Charles was born in Jackson, Mississippi and later moved to Buffalo, New York at the age of 10. He excepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age. Charles attended Bennett High School where he ran cross country track. He graduated in 1958. Charles joined the army in 1960 and earned the rank of E4. While serving in the army he received a medal for "Good Conduct". He received an honorable discharge in 1962. Charles completed his college studies at Buffalo State College and received a bachelors degree in Consumer Education. Charles was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Peggy L. Walton on May 01, 1965. Together they had one son, Michael C. Boykins. Charles had a passion for wood working, telling never ending stories of him growing up and about his family. If he ever attended an event where there was a dance floor you would find him out there showing off his favorite dance moves. Charles worked for Chevrolet Motor Company. He was hired by the United States Postal Service in 1982 where he was promoted to Letter Carrier. One of his proudest moments in his life was the birth of his son Michael. Everyone that knew Charles heard multiple stories about Michael. Charles never missed an opportunity to spend time with family and enjoy a good meal. Friday Fish Fry was his favorite. He never met a stranger. Once he started a conversation it could last for hours of his talking about his family and his life experiences. Charles leaves to cherish his memories; his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Peggy L. Boykins; his son Michael (Keshia); his grandchildren Devin M Boykins and Logan D. Boykins; his brothers - Charles Edward Boykin (Virginia), Jerry Boykin (Lisa), his sisters - Charlene Boykin, Rita Bracey (Ed), Brenda Foster (Sherman), Sherry Boykin, Linda Williams (James). A host of loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Samuel P. Boykins and Larry Boykin, his sisters: Laurie Clark, Shirley Kelly and Deloris Quinn (Edwin). He also leaves two best friends, Gordon Blassingame (77 years of friendship) and Carey "Spanky" Dixon (71 years of friendship).
