Catherine Hills

Mother Catherine Hills was born on July 26, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, the fifth of twelve children born to the late Emery and Audrey Hills. She was educated in the New York City public school system and, at an early age, entered the workforce while faithfully raising her family. After giving her life to Christ, Mother Catherine became a devoted and active member of Brownsville Community Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York. There, she faithfully served in numerous capacities, including the Deaconess Board and the Nurses Board. She also served diligently as President of the Pastor’s Aid Ministry, offering unwavering support to church leadership and the ongoing work of the ministry. Later in life, she served alongside her husband as First Lady of King of Glory Baptist Church. In this role, Mother Catherine exemplified grace, strength, and servant leadership. She had a deep love and compassion for young people and was passionately committed to nurturing and guiding them in their spiritual walk. Through her wisdom, encouragement, and godly example, she helped lead many to Christ. Mother Catherine continued her legacy of faithful service by supporting the ministries of her children who serve as pastors. She was lovingly honored as the “Mother of the Church” within their congregations, a role she carried with dignity, wisdom, and a nurturing spirit. She provided prayer, encouragement, and spiritual guidance to many whose lives she touched. After relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, Mother Catherine became a devoted member of Worship Center International Church under the leadership of Bishop Jeffrey Billingsley, where she remained a committed and faithful member until the end of her life. Mother Catherine’s life was a beautiful reflection of faith, service, and unwavering devotion to God. Her warm charm, gentle humor, and loving spirit endeared her to many. Her legacy of love, ministry, and compassion will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her. On Thursday, March 12, 2026, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and loved ones, Mother Catherine peacefully transitioned from earth to eternity. She leaves to cherish her memory her six children: D’Ann (Billy) Johnson, Donald Fowler, Deitra Hill, Darryl (Samantha) Hill, Daniel (Trina) Hill Eason, and Dawn (Kedrick) Wilson; twenty-two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Gaynes of Brooklyn, New York, and Marion Hills of Duluth, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant…enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” ~ Matthew 25:23 KJV ~ Celebration of Life Services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 11:00 AM at New Covenant Christian Ministries 1760 Phillips Rd, Lithonia, GA 30058.
