Cassandra Jean Taylor

Cassandra Jean Taylor, affectionately known as CT or Cassie to family and friends, Cassandra Jean Taylor was born on December 20, 1968, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Emmanuel Taylor and Dorothy Taylor. A remarkable woman full of love, light, and strength, Cassandra had a way of brightening any room she entered, always bringing a smile and filling every conversation with laughter. Cassandra was a proud graduate of Lakeshore High School and went on to earn a degree in Computer Science from Grambling State University in 1990. After graduating, she began her career at IBM in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she worked for over 15 years. Later, Cassandra returned to her beloved Atlanta, where she continued her professional journey with the State of Georgia Department until her untimely passing. Cassandra was a faithful member of Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church, where she joyfully served in the ALP Ensemble and the TRBC Mass Choir. Her love for music and worship shone brightly through her singing, and she found great fulfillment in praising God and sharing her faith with others. Cassandra was a lover of all genres of music and found joy in watching cooking shows and cheering on her favorite football team. A devoted Carolina Panthers fan, she especially admired Cam Newton during his time as quarterback. Known for her lively spirit, Cassandra loved playing spades at family gatherings—always ready to talk a little friendly trash. Deeply spiritual and full of faith, she was passionate about sharing the word of God and recently began leading a weekly Bible study class. More than anything, Cassandra cherished time with her family, filling every moment with love, laughter, and encouragement. Cassandra departed this life peacefully on October 25th at Piedmont Henry Hospital after a long and courageous battle with complications from diabetes. Cassandra was preceded in death by her father, Emmanuel Taylor; her maternal grandparents, Andrew and Fozzie Mitchell; her paternal grandparents, Steve and Dora Taylor; her uncles, Andrew Mitchell and Herbert Mitchell; and her aunt, Addie Nelson. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving mother, Dorothy Taylor; brothers, Manuel Godfrey and Kenneth Johnson (Kara); sister, Chava Carter (Arthur); uncles, Johnny Mitchell (Mary) and Melvin Vinson; aunts, Vercell Trimble (James), Gladys Mitchell, Addie Joe Thomas (Troy), and Mary Lou Mitchell; nephew, Joshua Carter; godson, Dextavious Mitchell; and a host of cousins, family members, and friends who will forever cherish her love, laughter, and light.
