Raised with strong South Carolina roots, Bonnie carried throughout her life the values of faith, determination, family, and personal responsibility. She was a graduate of Benjamin E. Mays High School in Pacolet, South Carolina. She later made her home in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, where she lived for more than 50 years and established a life centered on her family, faith, and home. Bonnie shared her life’s journey with her beloved husband, Lewellyn C. Warner Jr., who preceded her in death. Their union became an important part of the family story and the legacy carried forward by the generations who follow them. A woman of deep Christian faith and a member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Bonnie’s relationship with God was foundational to her life. Those who knew her well knew her as a prayer warrior—a woman who believed wholeheartedly in the power of prayer and remained committed to God throughout life’s triumphs, challenges, joys, and uncertainties. Her faith was not simply something Bonnie professed; it was something she lived. She possessed a forgiving heart and believed deeply in the importance of family. She demonstrated strength when circumstances demanded it, perseverance when the road became difficult, and faith when the answers were not always clear. Her strong will carried her through many seasons of life, while her capacity for forgiveness demonstrated the tenderness behind that strength. Bonnie also knew how to bring joy into a room. Her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor were unmistakably her own. She enjoyed laughter and understood the value of finding humor in everyday life. She loved cooking and homemaking and took tremendous pride in creating a welcoming home for the people she loved. Generosity was another hallmark of Bonnie’s character. Whether expressed through a meal, a helping hand, a prayer, a conversation, or simply being present for someone who needed her, she understood that some of life’s greatest gifts are those we give to one another. And Bonnie possessed undeniable style. Fashionable and elegant, she carried herself with confidence and grace. Her sense of style reflected her personality—distinctive, sophisticated, beautiful, and entirely her own. She appreciated the details that made life special and brought that same sense of care to herself, her home, and her family. Above everything else stood her devotion to God and her love of family. Bonnie was the loving mother of Danielle Lake and Scott Lipscomb. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Zoey Lake, Christian Lake, Courtney Lipscomb, and Caitlin Lipscomb, and through her great-grandchildren, Gabriel Lipscomb, Grayson Lipscomb, Genevieve Champayne, and Grant Lipscomb. She also leaves cherished memories with her siblings, Richard Lipscomb and Gaston Haywood, and her nieces and nephews, Dedra Lipscomb, Lisa Lipscomb, Richard Lipscomb, Michael Lipscomb, Angel Lipscomb, and Colombo Lipscomb, Gaston Haywood Jr. and Dana Haywood along with extended family members, loved ones, and friends whose lives were touched by her presence. Bonnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lewellyn C. Warner Jr., and her parents, Gaston Lipscomb and Susie Mae Lipscomb. For 83 years, Bonnie’s life represented far more than the passage of time. Her life represented generations connected through family, countless prayers offered in faith, meals prepared with love, laughter shared among loved ones, challenges overcome through determination, forgiveness extended from the heart, and a family strengthened by her presence. Those who knew Bonnie will remember her strong will and perseverance. They will remember her forgiving heart. They will remember her humor and quick wit. They will remember her cooking and the warmth of her home. They will remember her generosity. They will remember her fashionable style and unmistakable elegance. They will remember how deeply she loved her family. And they will remember her prayers.
