Belinda M. Nash Williams

Life Reflections Belinda Maria Nash Williams, passed away on March 20, 2024, to ascend back to the Lord. She was the eldest and beautiful daughter of Robert Nash and Carrie Mae Berden born on August 2, 1956, in Gary, Indiana. Belinda confessed her life to Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of the Tree of Life Missionary Baptist Church of Gary, Indiana. Belinda loved school and first fell in love with it while attending Dunbar Elementary. She was a proud graduate of Emerson High School, Class of 1974. She began her professional career as a welder at Blaw Knox Steel Mill of East Chicago, Indiana. After many years at the steel mill, she changed careers. She attended food service school – Gary Community School Corporation where she learned to make amazing cuisines. She ultimately ended her professional career working and retiring from the License Bureau (Gary and East Chicago Branch). Belinda will forever be known as everyone’s favorite. She was a kind and generous soul who always put others’ needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her infectious smile and warm personality. Our beloved mother lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. She was passionate about cooking and was always the highlight of family gatherings. She was the ultimate diva who loved to get her hair and nails done, which she had to do weekly. She also enjoyed watching court shows and Family Feud which could not be interrupted. Belinda had recently relocated with her husband to Stone Mountain, GA to be closer to her children. She loved and enjoyed the mild winters and beautiful summers moving to the south provided. She would always say “no more snow for me!” Belinda fell in love and married Terry Williams in 2007. They were members of Good News Baptist Church of St. Louis, MO. This union brought her stepchildren whom she loved affectionately; Terry (Peewee) Williams, Tyrus (Shonda) Williams, Tyneka (Adrian) Bowman. Grandchildren; Tyrique Williams, Lauren (Jenny) Chapman, Tyrus Williams, Jr., Darriell Savage and one Great grandson, Jayce Sanders. Belinda was preceded in death by her mother, Carrie Mae Berden, Freddie B. Nash, Sisters Celeste (Richard) Jackson, Michelle (James) Hampton, Leeunice Tate, and Brother Melvin Tate. To cherish her memory, she is survived by her Husband, Terry Williams; Daughters, TaShanna Denise Word and LaTanya Denise Jackson; Father Robert Nash, Mother in love Leslie Coopwood, Sisters, Dorothy (Andre) Coopwood Patterson, Victoria (Timothy) Reese, Robbie Nash, brothers, Rodney (Carlette) Berden, Raymond Berden, Aunts Norma Jean Walls, Pecolia Skelton, Thelma Johnson, Catherine Thedford, Katherlyn Thedford and a host of nieces/nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss her dearly. The Broken Chair We little did we know that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for the part of us went with you, that day. God called you home. You left us peaceful memories. Your love is still our guide and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chair is broken, and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the Chair will link again.
