Mrs. Annie M. Maxwell

Ann Marcia Maxwell was born on April 30th, 1939, in Rome, Georgia, to the late John Newton and Roxy Irene Flood. She departed this earthly life on December 22th, 2023, peacefully at home in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Ann was affectionately known as "Nana.” Ann met her forever-true love, the late Otis Maxwell, while attending Main High School in Rome, Georgia. They were united in matrimony on December 1, 1962. She became a military bride, traveling the world to such places as Taiwan, Japan, Germany, and her favorite place of all—Italy! Within this union, they had two amazing children, son Kevin Maxwell and daughter Kyra Maxwell. Later in life, she went from being a stay-at-home military wife to transitioning into the workforce and engaging in the career of nursing. She became a school nurse in Stone Mountain, Georgia, for over 15 years retiring from Shadow Rock Elementary. When she was no longer applying bandages to students or giving out Pepto Bismo, she found love in sports—tennis and basketball. She also enjoyed “Bunco nights” with Margaret and the ladies. Her favorite pastime eatery with her daughter Kyra was the Cracker Barrel restaurant. Ann was a woman of God and attended the Antioch AME church in Stone Mountain, GA, for over 25 years. As any church mother does, she would have her hair done by Denise DeCosta every 2 weeks—laid, dyed, and fried! Her favorite bible verse was the 23rd Psalm. She had a full understanding that the conclusion of the Psalms is “Free from sin and shame, welcomed and blessed for all eternity.” "Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Resting in the comfort of the 23rd Psalms. Ann was a strong, no nonsense amazing black woman, full of strength, wisdom, and love for her family and friends. She leaves us now to reunite with her husband, parents and siblings, Juanita Flood and Hiram Flood. Leaving to cherish her memory are her son Kevin Maxwell, (wife Jill Maxwell) and daughter Kyra Maxwell, (fiancé Torry Jones) her grandchildren Kody, Javin, (fiancé Kimoni Tigner) Seth, Chase, and Madison—the Maxwell’s and a Great-grandson Princeton Maxwell, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Services entrusted to Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory, 4347 Flat Shoals Pkwy., Decatur, GA.
