Willie Lee Neal was born January 8, 1935, in Blytheville, Arkansas to Josie and Isaiah Neal. He was the seventh of eight children. Willie graduated from Harrison High School where he played football and basketball and was known as “Skeeter”. He was also successful in business as a profitable sharecropper. It was also in High School that he found his love for golf. Willie was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age. He faithfully attended 1st Baptist Church. After graduating he moved to Chicago, Illinois to be closer to his Sisters. In February 1957 Willie was drafted in the Army where he served in the 82nd Airborne as a Paratrooper. After his discharge he continued in the reserves for an additional 3 years. On January 16, 1960 he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Georgia Mae Roberson at Granderson Temple COGIC. From this union they had two children Marcus and Marilyn. With a growing family they moved to Maywood, Illinois to be closer to his job at Container Corporation of America where he worked for over 40 years. Willie was very active in the community. He served as an Officer at the American Legion, drove a bus for Miracle Revival Center Sunday School Department and the Senior Center. As his health started to decline he moved to Lawrenceville, GA with his daughter. He enjoyed driving to Waffle House for breakfast, sitting on the porch and telling his childhood stories to his grandkids and the neighbors. The front yard was his pride; he would sweep the yard daily until he took ill. On October 27, 2021 Willie went home to be with the Lord. He is preceded in death by his parents Isaiah and Josie Neal, brother Edgar Neal, sisters Hattie Mae Wells and Lorine Johnson, his wife Georgia Neal and grandson Anthony Darryl Neal. He leaves to cherish his memories Marcus Neal (Kenyatta), Marilyn Leggett (Gregg), Terry Dean Neal. Two grandsons Marcus Jason Neal and Gregory Jamaal Leggett and one granddaughter Nadia Leggett. A sister Mary Smith. A best friend of 80+ years, Henry Doan. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
