September 18, 1961 - November 16, 2021
Wilbert Kneeland Roberts, affectionally known by all as Kneeland, was born in Greenville, Mississippi on September 18, 1961 to Wilbert Alexander Kneeland and Doris Jean Kneeland. Kneeland matriculated from Greenville High School in 1979 and went on to Tougaloo College in Jackson, MS, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music in 1983. Kneeland was an extremely talented and gifted musician. He sought to share his God-given gift through his work as Musical Director for the Harlem Boys Choir in New York. Kneeland always found a way to serve God with his gift of music. As the Music Director for Sardis Presbyterian Church in Jefferson, GA for over ten years, Kneeland was viewed as a mentor and guide for aspiring musicians of all ages. He had a love for music and at an early age Kneeland expressed his love for God in accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Kneeland was baptized in 1974 at Balls Temple AME Church in Greenville, MS. He was an active member at Mount Moriah Church in Tucker, GA where he served in many areas within the Worship and Arts Division, to include music, drama, and media. Kneeland worked for the past 10 years as a staff member at Mount Moriah, earlier as the Minister of Music and most recently as the Video Production Technician. Kneeland was also a savvy businessman and worked on Wall Street in New York for many years. In 1992, he moved to Atlanta, GA where he founded Americorp International, Inc. and has served as President & CEO for nearly thirty years. Kneeland was an avid sports fan and enjoyed all things football. He was a proud member of the Graduate Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. The expression “April showers bring May flowers” would be how Kneeland described his two beautiful flowers, Victoria Elizabeth born in May 2002 and Christina Nicole born in May 2004. Kneeland often expressed great joy for his “girls” as he called them, and he was extremely proud of their achievements. Kneeland transitioned after a brief illness on November 16, 2021. He is survived by his two beautiful daughters, Victoria Elizabeth Roberts and Christina Nicole Roberts; his six siblings: Patricia Kelly, Madge Merchant, Frederick Roberts, Sharita Bryant, Novak Kneeland and Tiffany Kneeland Pickens; along with a host of extended family members and friends nationwide. Kneeland was truly loved by all and his robust laugh coupled with his warm smile will never be forgotten.
