She professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Ansonville, North Carolina. Vivian attended Anson County Public Schools and was a 1970 graduate of Bowman Senior High. After her marriage to Albert Smith, she met and married Leroy Kirkpatrick and from this union five children were born. Vivian was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Lawrenceville, GA. Vivian leaves to cherish her children Jancelyn (Michael) Carter of Snellville, GA, Jasmine Kirkpatrick of Lawrenceville, GA, Lee J (Christina) Kirkpatrick of Lawrenceville, GA, Ashly (Corey) Wright of Charlotte, NC, Amber (Quentin) Coleman of Frankfort, KY, and step-daughter Melissa (Jeff) Hendrickson of Madison, IN; her grandchildren Maleena, Deuce, Noah, Caden, Dylan, Ariana, Asher, Brittany and Kathy; her adopted sons Junior Akpabio, Micah Harris and Ali Glanville; her adopted daughters Kiiya Sherre Dixon-Hillsman, Amanda Sapp, and Joyce "Kitty LeRoo" Goodman; sisters Mittie Thomas of Ansonville, NC, Jennifer Kendall of Ansonville, NC, Lynn (Louis) Davis of Weddington, NC, Jancelyn Kendall of Ansonville, NC and brother Dennis ‘Pete’ (Virginia) of Ansonville, NC; her adopted sisters Ruth Watkins, Elaine Little, Charlotte Glenn, Rose Douglas, Faye Abner, Sharon Holiday, Janice Cunningham, Cheryl Strickland, Patricia Gilbert and Rebecca Brown and a host of other beloved relatives and friends. Prior to retiring in 2002, Vivian was extremely dedicated to taking care of her children and worked as a school bus driver for Ft. Benning, Gwinnett County and Okaloosa County School Systems; she also worked as a CNA/Medical Assistant for Gwinnett County Jail. Whether you knew her as Ms. Vivian, PeeWee, Chocolate or Mama Viv, to her children, grandchildren and so many others she was known simply as Ma. Cooking and food were her love languages, and she would just as easily feed a stranger as she would her own children. She was truly in a class by herself and will forever be missed.
