Vanessa Chanise Johnson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Vanessa C. Johnson transitioned on Thursday, May 19, 2022. She was 15. Vanessa Johnson was born on March 4, 2007, in Hayward, California to Travis and Marjorie (Manson) Johnson. Vanessa was the first born of three siblings and was a precious joy to Travis and Marjorie. As a baby, Vanessa was outgoing and loving. Everyone always wanted to hold her. When Vanessa began school, she was eager and ready to learn. She was on the honor roll frequently and was a joy to her teachers. She enjoyed learning as well as cheerleading. Vanessa was funny and had a big laugh. She loved dancing, riding her bike, and having fun playing outside with her sisters and friends. She was a snuggle bear who loved to shower her loved ones with hugs and kisses. In middle school Vanessa continued receiving awards for her scholastic efforts and discovered her love for the Arts. Her love for music began when she started playing the tuba and singing in the choir. Vanessa also discovered her love for art. She was a self-taught artist. She used the skills that she taught herself to enter the SOTA program at Central Gwinnett High School in Lawrenceville, Georgia. At Central, Vanessa found a home away from home with her fellow students and the Black Knight marching band under the direction of Herbert Jackson. She developed strong bonds with her friends and a blossoming love with Junior Aifuwa. Vanessa was a beauty, an artist, a musician, a fashionista, a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter, a great granddaughter, a niece, a cousin, and so much more. She was a shining star who had a big presence and was a light to everyone she touched. Vanessa is survived by her parents Travis and Marjorie Johnson; her sisters Crystal and Gabrielle Johnson; her maternal grandparents Jacqueline Turner-Carr and Rufus Carr and Michael Manson; her paternal grandparents Corey Johnson Sr and LaTanya Williams; her maternal great-grandparents Wilson Turner, Marjorie Turner; her paternal great-grandmother Jennie Thompson, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
