Valerie Yvonne Taylor was born On March 19, 1960, in Monroe, LA to the late Bonnie B. Parrish and Johnnie B. Parrish Williams. Early in life she attended New St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe, LA where she accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was an active member of various ministries and the church choir. Valerie was a graduate of Richwood High School’s Class of 1978 where she was a cheerleader, participated in ROTC, Student Counsel and many academic clubs and activities. After graduation she attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA. In July 1982, Valerie married her high school sweetheart Michael Taylor, and was blessed with two sons: Michael, Jr. and Brandon. She was loved and respected by all who knew her and will be long remembered as a gentle woman with a warm smile and a generous heart. She loved God, her husband, her children, grandchildren, her family and friends. She retired from State Farm Insurance in 2019 after being employed for nearly 30 years. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Johnnie B. Williams; father, Bonnie B. Parrish; step-father, Joe Ben Williams; two brothers: Curtis Wilson and Joseph Williams, and three step-sisters: Verdia Johnson, Lauretta Kelley and Dorothy Goodjoint. Valerie leaves to cherish her memory, Michael A. Taylor her loving husband of thirty-nine years and sweetheart for forty-five years; two sons: Michael A. Taylor, Jr. and Brandon Taylor; four grandchildren: Cameron, Brielle, Brent (Mom-Chanel) and Ashton (Mom Serenee); three sisters: Doris Sadler, Janice Moore (Andrew), and Sharon Gregory (Tommy); brother Herbert Wilson; two step-sisters: Deborah Johnson and Veronica Wagner (Edward), and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
