Sheila L. Blackwell

SHEILA L. BLACKWELL was born December 7th, 1948, to loving parents, the late Kenneth and Doris Walker of Brooklyn, New York. Sheila was educated in the New York City public school system and graduated from Clara Barton High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. She later attended Kingsboro Community College where she earned her associate degree. Sheila married James A Blackwell. While married to James, Sheila became a dedicated mother to three children, Sean Anthony, Charese Tiffany, Ian Kenneth and one stepdaughter, Crystal Tajuana. She later divorced James. As a young woman Sheila expressed profound interest in sewing, hairstyling and traveling. Sheila became the neighborhood hair stylist and went on to pursue a license in cosmetology! Hair was her passion. She worked late hours in her apartment styling hair for family and friends. Oftentimes she did not even charge her clients. Sheila also brought life to any party!!! She loved to go out with her friends or collaborate a trip or event for her friends to attend. She liked to celebrate or just get together. If she needed a new outfit, Sheila made her outfit in one or two days, wore it to the party, arrive dressed and looking SHARP!!! She could literally party the night away!!! While living in New York, Sheila worked in the banking industry. She wanted a better life for herself and her children. In 1991, Shiela moved her children to Atlanta, Georgia. Shortly after moving, she landed a job with the United States Postal Service (USPS). She retired from the United States Postal system in 2014. After a 17-year long illness, Sheila passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Cambridge Care Nursing Facility in Snellville, GA with her children by her side. Sheila is now resting in the arms of her Heavenly Father and will undoubtedly be missed. Sheila leaves many wonderful memories to be cherished for an eternity by all who crossed her path. Sheila’s two brothers preceded her in death, George and Kenneth (Junie) Walker. Sheila’s memories will be cherished the most by her loving children, Sean Anthony, Charese Tiffany, Ian Kenneth (Cynthia), and Crystal Tajuana (Anthony), her sister, Glovinia Brooks, Brooklyn N.Y. her cousin/sister Barbara Straughter, 9 grandchildren, Tyshwan, Cameron, Xavier, Nia, Giovanni, Nasir, John, Juanell, Jerrame and Julian. 8 great-grandchildren, Sincere, Sheika, Brant, Jordan, Kaleb, Dhalei, Layla and Lyrik and many other relatives, special friends and co-workers. SHEILA YOU TRULY ARE ONE IN A MILLION AND YOU WILL FOREVER BE MISSED AND IN OUR HEARTS!!! As Sheila would say, “Make it Do What It Do Babe” Celebration of Life Services for Sheila L.
