Mrs. Ruth Ross Douglas

Ms. Ruth Ross was born on March 15, 1932, in Burnt Corn, Conecuh County, AL, to the late Eugene and Mary Ross. She was one of 10 siblings, eight of them, including six sisters and two brothers, preceded her in death. Ruth was also preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Mrs. Sandra A. Tumbling. Ruth was united in Holy Matrimony to Ravone Montgomery in Pensacola, FL in 1950, and from this union, three children were born. Later, she married Ernest (Bill) Douglas in Holy Matrimony in August 1971 in Pensacola, FL. In 1972, the family relocated to Miami, FL, where Ruth built a career in retail sales, she worked in that industry for more than 40+ years. She earned numerous accolades, including Employee of the Month honors, special parking privileges, trips, concert tickets, and monetary gifts, all recognizing her as an Outstanding Sales Associate. Ruth was known for her quick wit and great sense of humor. She loved gardening, cooking, and spending quality time with her family. Ruth gave her life to Christ at an early age and, after moving to Miami, she attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and was a member in good-standing for over 35 years under the guidance of Pastors John C. Cherry, Floyd W. Larkin, and Arthur Jackson III. Ruth served faithfully as a dedicated member of the Deaconess Board and Mothers Board. An avid reader, Ruth dedicated time each and everyday to studying her Bible and praying for her family. With hearts full of love and reverence, the family gathers with friends and loved ones to Celebrate the Life and Homegoing of Mrs. Ruth Ross Douglas, fondly known as "Nana and Ms. Ruth". Ruth is survived by her two children, Ms. Deborah Montgomery of Loganville, GA, and Mr. Ray L. Montgomery II (Dorenda) of Tacoma, WA; her son-in-law, Mr. Timothy Tumbling of Oxford, GA; and her only surviving sibling, Mr. Johnnie J. Ross (Wanda) of Detroit, MI. Ruth also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Ministers Radiant (Antwanare) Jones of Tallahassee, FL; Toney Tumbling of Covington, GA; Ray Montgomery III of Huntsville, AL; Alex (Dana) Hernandez of Hampton, GA; Brandon Hernandez of South Fulton, GA; Stacey Tumbling of Lawrenceville, GA; Raquanda Searcy of Clarksville, TN; and Dominique Tumbling of Conyers, GA. Additionally, she is survived by 13 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, as well as devoted and special friends, Ms. Kay Dunams, Mrs. Robin Bevans, and Mother Doris Allen. Ruth's legacy of faith, love, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
