Rhett Bessire

March 6, 1970 - January 18, 2022

It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our son, brother, uncle and friend Rhett Allen Bessire, 51, of Punta Gorda, Florida, on January 18, 2022. Rhett passed away too soon at his home in Conyers, Georgia. Rhett was born on March 6, 1970, to Richard and Susie Bessire in Lake City, Florida. After completing high school at Port Charlotte High, he went on to attend Manatee Community College and then on to a career in the golf industry where he was at his happiest doing what he loved most, from Pro Shop Management to Golf Course Maintenance. Those who knew Rhett knew that he had an avid passion for golf, baseball, football and animals, especially his beloved dog Chavez. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. When the Bucs won the Super Bowl in 2021, Rhett proclaimed his life was complete! Rhett had a quick wit humor like no other and always made those around him laugh. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Rhett is survived by his father Richard Bessire, his mother Susie Bessire, his siblings Claire Bessire Hanano and Rich Bessire, his niece Ava Hanano, brother in-law Zak Hanano and large number of aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends. A memorial and celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County Florida (https://awlshelter.org/donate), a cause that Rhett felt deeply about.
