Pamela M Jones
March 30, 1965 - June 13, 2022
Pamela Lucretia Mitchell Jones was born March 30, 1965, to Willis Mitchell, Jr and Elsie T. Mitchell Durden in Atlanta, GA. Pam is the oldest of two other girls and one brother. Her parents said she was always grown and independent as a child. As an adult, she was the life of the party, providing comic relief in any situation. Her positivity and laughter rubbed off on everyone around her and continued even throughout her illness. She graduated from Spencer High School in Columbus, GA. After graduation, Pam took a couple of years to work and figure out what she wanted for her life. Those plans eventually included marrying Robert L. Graves, Sr. and to that union, a son was born. Pam later married Awalski L Jones and welcomed another son. After having her first son, Pam decided upon a career in nursing and enrolled in DeKalb Technical College School of Nursing where she earned her degree. She then accepted a position at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur as a unit secretary while completing final requirements to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN). In the midst of studying to become a LPN, Pam was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. It was later determined that she instead had a rare neurodegenerative condition that gradually diminished her ability to walk, talk and care for her young children. She transitioned on June 13, 2022, at Piedmont Eastside Medical Center in Snellville, GA after experiencing complications. She leaves to cherish her memory: Parents Elsie T. Durden and Willis Mitchell Jr. (Margy); sons Robert L. Graves II, Awalski L. Jones II; grandson, King Anthony Graves; sisters, Tracie Mitchell King, Tambria Mitchell Peeples (Andre); brother Willis M. Mitchell III (Keena); Aunts and Uncles Juanita Jones, Dr. Annette Mitchell Ellis, Phillip Mitchell, Lorraine Tate, Dr. Gwendolyn D. Mitchell and Gwendolyn A. Mitchell; nieces and nephews, Garrick R. Mitchell, Saadia L. Christian, Augyst Rae Peeples, Ayden R. Peeples, Aston R. Peeples, Demia Mitchell, Cameron Mitchell, Jayson Mitchell, Carsen Mitchell; great niece Serenity A. Harris and a host of close cousins, friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John R. and Willie Mae Spears, Rev. Willis and Thelma Mitchell Sr. and her uncle, Herman Mitchell.
