Kerrick Jermaine Sanders

Kerrick Jamaine Sanders was born on June 12, 1979, in Atlanta, Georgia, to his mother, Emily Sanders, and his late father, Horace Eugene Davis. He grew up in the Stone Mountain area, surrounded by a close-knit family and community. Kerrick graduated from Stone Mountain High School in 1998, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors both academically and personally. On February 8, 1998, he joined the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church under the spiritual leadership of Reverend J. T. Davis. During his time there, Kerrick was an active member, participating in the youth choir and playing the drums. Pursuing higher education, Kerrick attended the New Mexico Military Academy in Roswell, New Mexico, where he earned an associate degree. He later took a role at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas, as a football coach, mentoring young athletes and sharing his passion for the sport. However, when his mother suffered a stroke, he selflessly left that position to return home and care for her. He subsequently secured employment at Stone Mountain Park, where he worked for several years, enjoying the natural beauty and history of the site. At the time of his passing, he was employed at Georgia State University in Atlanta Georgia, contributing to the university’s operations. Throughout his life, Kerrick was a devoted fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, proudly cheering for his team. Kerrick was preceded in death by his father, Horace Davis; his sister, Celenthia Denise; his grandmother, Willie Stalnaker; his great-grandmother, Mamie Glenn; and his grandfather, Jyles Stalnaker; uncle, David Thornton, Sr.; aunts, Linda Shaw and Janice Morris. These family members held a special place in his heart and shaped the man he became. Kerrick departed this life on April 21, 2026, leaving a legacy of love and service. He leaves to cherish his loving memory; his mother, Emily Sanders; his brother, Jatavis Gerrod Sanders (Danyel); his niece, Arianna Sanders; his nephews, Josiah Sanders, Elijah Sanders, and Masoud Moore; his great-niece, Harley Moore; his great-nephew, King Moore; godson, DeAndre J. Ray; aunts, Beverly Jackson, Willie Maxey, and Mamie Bradford (Donald); uncles, David Thornton, Jr. (Nellie), Gary Thornton and Andy Thornton; his play brother DJ Snow and a host of cousins, and friends who will forever hold him dear.
