It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph Cornell Scott, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Joseph passed away peacefully at his home in Decatur, Georgia, on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, at the age of 74. Joseph was born on June 7th, 1951, in Norfolk, Virginia. From an early age, he was known for his vibrant spirit and kind heart. In his formative years, he developed a love for service and leadership that would shape the course of his life. After graduating high school, Joseph answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. His time in the military instilled in him discipline and a profound sense of duty, values he carried throughout his life. After his esteemed service in the Army, Joseph settled in Decatur, Georgia, where he made his mark in the catering industry. As a dedicated employee at the World Congress Center, Joseph used his skills and passion for culinary arts to bring joy to countless events and gatherings. His colleagues will always remember him for his unwavering work ethic and warm personality. A devoted family man, Joseph cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity that has touched all who knew him. To honor Joseph's life, visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Rainbow Park Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia. A Celebration of Life service will follow on Friday, October 17th, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the same location. Joseph will be laid to rest with military honors at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, later that day at 2:00 PM. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Dekalb, for their compassionate care and assistance during this difficult time. Joseph Cornell Scott will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in our hearts and memories forever. The Celebration of Life Service for Joseph C. Scott will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM. This service will be recorded and streamed live.
