    Joie Lee Ellis

    May 24, 1983 - January 20, 2022

In Remembrance Of Joie Lee Ellis, A Life Worthy Of Reflection And Celebration Joie was born on May 24th, 1983 in Birmingham, Alabama to his mother Jameszina “Jamie” Ellis and Father Kenneth Tinsley. Jamie and Joie was raised under the loving hand of his grandmother, Susan Eileen Scott, with dedicated support from his loving Aunt’s, Donna-Marie Reid and Chantell Ellis-Gresham. Joie is survived by his younger brothers Jacob and Elijah Ellis, his loving stepfather Antonio Gieger, twin nephews Caleb and Christian, niece Jatelia, Uncle Toney and his four beautiful children, Zhya, Zolene, Elise, and only son, Teagan, along with Stephon, Quinton, Arthur Walton and a host of other treasured family members and loved ones. Joie entered this world like an unexpected shooting star. He was a true gift from God to his mother, and added so much joy, meaning and purpose to our family. We instantly found it hard to imagine our lives without him. He was a happy, affectionate child and loved by all who laid eyes on him. He had the family wrapped around his finger, where we remained throughout his life. Joie loved his little brothers Jacob and Elijah. He called them his, Big Little Brother’s, because of their size. Joie was a great cook and made many meals for them. He also made it his business to teach his brothers about life and how to move in this world. Joie was intelligent, multifaceted, strategic, technically inclined and a competitive athlete, excelling in wresting and football at Redan Middle School and Redan High. Sports was a great challenge and release, but the position Joie enjoyed playing the most was that of being his mother’s first born child. He was a momma’s boy to his heart and loved her deeply. As a teen Joie began creating beats in his mother’s basement where he would hang out with his neighborhood friends and make music and memories for hours. Music became his passion, and he used it as a beacon of light to help find his voice and place in this world. As an adult Joie was entrepreneurial minded and co-created several business ventures with his Aunt Chantell. From lawncare to construction, the two were lockstep in love, laughter and living the American dream. He loved his Aunties Chantell and Donna, who consistently poured love and life into his daily walk. In Joie’s final hours he was feeling re-inspired, both personally and creatively. He was 10 toes down and on a mission to create a better life for himself, his children and his family the best way he knew how. He created, No Cap Entertainment to reignite his music, but he didn’t live to see his dream realized. But the devil is a liar. God is faithful, and promises eternal life for those that believe in Him. Joie was a believer in our Father to his last breath. Our faith in Christ affirms that we will see Joie again as the ultimate version of his best self, one sweet day. All is well with his soul, which will continue living on through his children and the heartbeat of a young mother that gave it every single thing she had. Rest well now, momma’s big boy. We got it from here. And that’s, “No Cap.”
