Daphne M Sett

Daphne Marcia Sett was born on June 16, 1933, in Kingston Jamaica, and passed away on March 3, 2022, in Decatur, Georgia. Our family’s collective hearts are broken with the passing of our sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, aunt, friend, and Sister in Christ. Daphne achieved impressive professional accomplishments. They include a General Nursing credential from Kingston Public Hospital School of Nursing in 1958; a Midwifery Certificate from the Victoria Jubilee Lying-In Hospital, Kingston in 1961; a Bachelor of Arts from St. Francis College, Brooklyn in 1974 and a Master of Science in Social Work from Hunter College, the City University of New York in 1976. Her career in Nursing included The Polyclinic Hospital in New York and Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. She retired from Crawford Long (Emory) Hospital in Atlanta. Daphne was a beloved and respected Nurse. She was an Assistant Director of Nursing OB/GYN at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Before her retirement at Crawford Long (Emory) Hospital, she served as a Primary Clinical Nurse in the Neurological Science Unit as well as Pre and Post Procedure Monitoring Nurse in Radiology. Forever generous with her time and talents with family and friends, Daphne continuously connected jobs in medical settings with people she knew were qualified to apply. She maintained a network to propel her family, friends, and siblings towards educational opportunities that changed their lives and the lives of their children. Daphne is preceded in death by her parents Icilda Mathon Scholes and Herbert Scholes and by her siblings Franklin Scholes, Carmen Scholes Munroe, Donald Scholes, Marion Scholes Sang, and Kathleen Scholes. Her brother Vernon Scholes died shortly after Daphne in March 2022. Daphne leaves her love and memory with those who grieve her passing: sister Phyllis Scholes, son Kenneth Anthony Lue, grandson Kenneth Anthony Lue Jr. (Courtney), great-granddaughters Stella and Colette, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
