    Barry Jerome Mayfield

    January 17, 1947 - April 7, 2022

Barry Jerome Mayfield, second son of the late Ros Mayfield and Jurrie Kate Parham Mayfield, was born January 17, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia. He departed this life on April 7, 2022. Barry graduated from David T. Howard High School in 1965, after which he began a more than forty-year career in the retail industry working primarily in logistics. Barry was an active member of Spirit and Truth Sanctuary in Decatur, Georgia for over thirty years, where he was faithful in attendance and support. Barry was a man of great principle, known for his gentle spirit, his kindness and generosity and his love for family and friends. Barry enjoyed traveling and since he never met a stranger, you could not go anywhere with Barry without meeting someone who knew him. Barry also loved bowling, playing in several leagues over the years, and achieving a career best score of 268. If not working, traveling, or bowling, you could find Barry on the dance floor, where he could out dance and out last everybody! Barry was a faithful member of the Hidden Hills Association of Retired Persons (HHARP) for many years. Barry leaves behind a legacy of devotion to family and service to others. He was proceeded in death by his eldest sister Lillian Ann Simmons. He is survived by three brothers, Willie Ros Mayfield (Edwina), Terry Leon Mayfield (Marquitha), Carl Emerson Mayfield, two sisters Carolyn Renae Wright (Sinclair), Sylvia Denise Culberson (Sanford) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Barry Mayfield's service will be recorded and streamed live. In the event the service is interrupted at any time due to technical issues, the entire service will be uploaded and available to view by the next business day.
