Barbara Ruth Pierce Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Barbara Ruth Pierce, Born October 11th, 1929, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Eddie and Loney Pierce and the sister of six brothers and sisters. She attended the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church and was the last living sibling to have lived a fruitful and long life. Barbara attended Washington Elementary and Ullman High School. In 1947, she was blessed with a daughter named Mildred. In 1949, Barbara decided to move to New York City and make a better life. Barbara lived with relatives until she found her own place and settled in. She was a people person who would give you the shirt off her back and literally did! That was the type of person she was. She told a story of an Easter Sunday when she walked home from church and saw a little girl who didn’t get new clothes and she exchanged clothes with her. She got in trouble, but her mother understood. She never wanted to see you go without, if she had it to give and even when she didn’t. That was the love she showed anyone that came in her path. She was a doting aunt and grandmother who helped raise some of her nieces, nephews, grands, great and great greatgrandchildren throughout her years. Miss Barbara was a fisty one, she gave a lot of knowledge and wisdom to her family which has been carried along through 5 generations and more to come. She enjoyed spending quality time with all her children. Bob loved her life, and her family. She was strong in her faith as she watched her favorite ministers all night long in her final days. With her pain and suffering Barb grew tired of the fight. On June 9th God said to his daughter come home and have eternal life with no more pain. She was a fighter that always said, “Lord, have mercy on my soul give me strength and keep me whole!” She will always be loved and missed. She was preceded in death by her brothers Eddie Jr., Jimmy, and William (Bill). She leaves behind her daughter Mildred and grandchildren Milton (Milton, Taylor, Jackson), Jamal (Jasmine, Kendyl, Christian), Terolyn (Terolequia, Dominique, Mariah, Warren) and Cheryl; her daughter Denise (George, Darrel, Justin and Jaton; her son Eddie (Eddie Jr., Octavia and Elise). Her great greatgrandchildren Aaliyah, Amauri, Alyssa, August, Carreon, Malachi, Zaire, Lavon, Saniya, London and Bailey and unborn baby Gigi and other great greatgrandchildren which includes nieces and nephews for whom she leaves behind wisdom and love
