    Annie Doris Hunter

    December 31, 1934 - May 16, 2022

The Life and Legacy of Annie Doris Hunter A Time To Be Born: Annie Doris (Graham) Hunter, daughter of the late Laura Mae Graham and Allen Williams was born on December 31, 1934 in Donalsonville, Ga. Annie was preceded by a brother, Lewis Lamar Graham Sr. and a lifelong sister/friend Tommie Lou Bennett (whom her family had guardianship over). She was also preceded by a nephew, sister-in-law, 10 aunts and uncles of which one aunt survives her in death. A Time To Serve: Annie confessed Christ as her savior at an early age. She served at the Oak A.M.E church and was a faithful member until her departure from Donalsonville, Ga. When she settled in her new home in Brooklyn, NY, she became an Eastern Star. Later she moved to Roosevelt, NY and became a dedicated member at Naomi Temple church. She also frequented the Greater Allen A.M.E church in Queens NY. After retirement she relocated to Loganville in the metro Atlanta area, to be with her children and grandchildren, where she joined the New Bethel A.M.E church of Lithonia, GA. There she served under the prison ministry, Angel tree committee, usher board and as a platinum senior liturgical dancer. She was a faithful member of the Wednesday Senior Bible study class and a committed attendee of the local Senior Citizens Center. A Time To Toil: After moving to Brooklyn in the 50’s, Annie joined the workforce. She was always a hard worker and she always remained employed. She worked for the Singer Sewing Company for period of time and then went on to work at Long Island College Hospital… while also attending school at Brooklyn College. Later she became employed by the, United States Postal Service, from which she retired in 2002. Annie ran an interim home, for foster children from Miracle Makers in Brooklyn, NY. And if that wasn’t enough…she returned to school, to further her education at SUNY College at Old Westbury. A Time To Love: Annie Doris met Henry T., in New York in 1960. They bonded initially over the fact that they were from the same hometown of Donalsonville, Ga. From the beginning of their courtship, Annie made it very clear that, “She was a one-man woman… and that he should not mess over her heart and do the right thing.” The right thing he did, and after a short courtship they were wed on September 15, 1961. From this union they created 3 beautiful children and were later blessed with 3 beautiful grandchildren. They celebrated over 60 years of love together, and it will live on forever. A Time To Reflect: While most of us know of the 5 Love languages…Annie Doris made a 6th in food. She loved to feed and nourish all… if she had, you had. She was a very strong willed and at times intimidating woman. Anyone who knew her, knew that she didn’t take any mess. All be it said…to know her was to love her. Those closest to her knew that she was loving, loyal and would give you her heart, especially when it came to family. While she did foster relationships with people, her family was always the loves of her life especially her “grands” as she liked to put it. Her humor was quirky and dry, but somehow still funny. She would become known for her stylish but unique way of dressing, and she didn’t play about keeping her nails done! She was a feisty lady who never backed down from a challenge. She loved to dance (especially the Mamba) and would channel her inner “Fast and Furious” putting any vehicle on two wheels when given the chance! She was truly one of a kind and a Blessing to all of us. She loved GOD and taught us to do the same. Annie Doris was a woman phenomenally…Phenomenal woman that was she! A Time To Transition: Annie transitioned from this life, to be with her Lord and Savior at 3:00am on May 16, 2022. She is left to be remembered as a beautiful wife by Henry T. Hunter. As a loving mother by Madeline H. Campbell, Malinda Hunter and Henry T. Hunter Jr. As a caring grandmother by David W. Campbell Jr., Derrick D. Campbell and Shamika N. Campbell. As an amazing niece by Rev. Joanne C. Lee. As an aunt by Phyllis M. Graham and Lewis L. Graham Jr. As a favorite cousin by Barbara (Sims) Harrison and Reuben Lee Jr. As a sharp mother-in-law by David W. Campbell Sr. and Kaneitha Dunwoody. Not to forget a host of other cousins, family and friends. Annie Doris Hunter, you were a faithful and obedient servant of the Lord. Job well done here on Earth. May your body rest in eternal peace, as your soul spends the rest of your days celebrating in Heaven. This is not goodbye!!!! Instead, we say…see you later on the other side!!! We love you and will miss you, until we meet again. 💕🙏😘
