Yauncey Lorenzo Carter

Isiah 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” Yauncey Lorenzo Carter was born to Dr. Tonya Nooks and Timothy Carter on August 21, 1977, in Columbus, Ohio. He departed this life suddenly on July 25, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his biological father, Robert Cobb, and three grandmothers, Frances Cobb, Margaret Carter, and Ophelia Peacock, who welcomed him with open arms. Yauncey proudly served in the United States Navy, where he exemplified the values of honor, courage, and commitment. His time in the Navy was just one chapter in a life dedicated to bettering himself and those around him. After his service, Yauncey continued to pursue excellence, earning his GED and HVAC certification, which allowed him to provide for his family with pride and skill. Yauncey embraced Islam in 2012, dedicating his life to the teachings of the Quran and the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). May Allah grant Yauncey Jannah and bring peace to his family during this difficult time. His presence was a burst of joy, a blend of warmth and wit that effortlessly lifted spirits. His laughter was infectious, a melody that brightened even the darkest days. With a playful edge, he wielded sarcasm like a loving tease, his jabs more endearing than cutting. He had an uncanny ability to make people laugh while showing deep, genuine care. His generosity knew no bounds; he gave freely of his time and heart, always knowing just how to make others feel valued. In every jest and every moment of kindness, he radiated a light that made life a little sweeter for everyone around him. Yauncey met the love of his life, Doneshia Carter, in 1999. Doneshia and Yauncey were united in holy matrimony on September 2, 2007. For twenty-five years, they were more than a married couple; they were best friends and inseparable partners in every facet of life. Their love was evident in the way they faced challenges together, always seeking each other’s advice and support. Every decision, big or small, was made with mutual respect and affection. Their days were punctuated by tender kisses and playful touches, a testament to their deep connection. Nightly, they couldn’t imagine sleeping apart, finding comfort and solace only in each other’s arms. Through all the highs and lows, their unwavering bond was a beautiful reminder of a love that truly lasted a lifetime. Yauncey leaves to mourn his passing a devoted and loving family: wife, Doneshia; mother, Dr. Tonya Nooks of Columbus, OH; father, Timothy Carter of Atlanta, GA; he was a devoted father to his eight children, Cameron, Carmon, Ciara, Alexander “AJ” (LC), Cambria, DeJetre “DJ”, Samaria, and Hailey; he was a cherished PaPa to his seven grandchildren, Cassidi, Cason, Carson, Eli, Carter, Kai, and Camora; five sisters, Yalanda, Yavaye, Miya, Briana, and Gabby; two brothers-in-law, George (Karen) and Samario; sister-in-law, Georgina (Leon); and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends, all of whom miss him dearly. His family was his greatest joy, and his legacy will continue through their lives.
