Mrs. Willie A. Manning

Mother Willie Albert Allen Manning was blessed to be born to Alton and Stella Henderson Allen on June 30, 1933. She was the last surviving child and third of six children (Charles Henry, Mary Grace, Christine, Grover and Bobby). Mother Manning grew up right next door to Macedonia Baptist Church and joined the church at an early age. Mother Manning loved learning and excelled in school, even being skipped a year. She would be asked to teach lower grade classes when teachers were absent. After finishing high school she married the love of her life, her late husband, Deacon Harold Manning. They were blessed to have three children, Harold Jay, Alton Joe and Anita. Fitness became an interest of Mother Manning after she retired. She would walk at Rockdale High School. At age 69, she decided to walk the Atlanta Peachtree Road Race, and she completed the 6.2 miles! Mother Manning decided to return to the workforce and joined the staff at Sheltering Arms Day Care. She was encouraged by Sis. Ruby Allen to study for her CDA Certificate. So she did and she earned her CDA Certificate which was another great accomplishment. Mother Manning has always been a servant in the church. From helping with fish fries back in the day when they had them in a member’s yard to selling chicken plates at church to singing in the choir, participating in the women’s ministry and the mother’s ministry and being in attendance at most all services and programs. She loved Macedonia Baptist Church. Mother Manning served under several pastors during her lifetime at the church, and she saw many remodels and improvements to the sanctuary. Mother Manning was able to attend Macedonia earlier in the year, and she was so grateful and thankful to be in the house of the Lord one more time. Mother Manning leaves to mourn her children, Harold Jay Manning (Patsy), Alton Joe Manning (Mary), Anita M. Farmer (Donald); Grandchildren, Sonya Gilmore (Sterling), Carla M. Jones, Christopher Jason Manning, Stephanie G. Davenport (adopted); Great Grandchildren, Jada Grant, Samson Gilmore, Caygan Jones, Cambridge Jones; Nieces, Veronica Jewell Camp (Lonnie), Annie Grace Folds (Carl), Cheryl Hall (Dorian), Melody Head (Leslie); Nephews, Willie P. Flanagan (Barbara), Tony Allen (Elizabeth); Sister-in-Law, Mrs. Charlotte Allen; A host of additional great nephews, nieces, and cousins, including Cousin Iris Henderson Vance; Step Sister Ms. Cora Davis and caring friends.
