Remembering The Life & Legacy of Willie Daniel Elliott III The Early Years Willie Daniel ‘Chunkey’ Elliott III was born on August 28, 1961, to the loving parents of Willie D. Elliott II and Shirley Elliott in Atlanta, GA. He was the middle child and the only son, and both of his parents preceded him in death. A 1980 graduate of Rockdale High School in Conyers, Dan soon after joined the United States Navy, where he proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1988. Dan accepted Christ into his life at an early age and was a member of Rock Temple AME Church. He peacefully passed away on January 27, 2025, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love and service. The Man After leaving the United States Navy and returning to Georgia, Dan married the love of his life, Sandra “Evette” Lee, in December 1987. Together, they began their life with their daughter Danielle and later expanded it with Dustin, completing their family unit. Dan started his career as a firefighter and ultimately retired from the United States Postal Service. In his free time, he dedicated himself to the Boys and Girls Club, Newton County Recreation Department, and the YMCA, where he coached, umpired, and refereed. A passionate fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Falcons, Dan was known as “Uncle Dan” to many. His heart for service was evident in his volunteer work with local youth, where he made a lasting impact on the community. The Father Daddy, aka Pops, was a devoted father, whose heart and soul were forever intertwined with the lives of his children, Danielle and Dustin Elliott. He loved them deeply, with a strength , commitment and tenderness that defined his life. His proudest moments were those spent with them, watching them grow, learn, and become the remarkable young adults they are. His love and guidance will remain with them always, in their hearts and in the many memories they shared. Though his presence may no longer be here, his spirit will live on through the love he gave and the legacy he leaves behind. May the bond they shared with him bring them comfort in the days ahead, knowing that the love of a father is never truly gone—it endures, in every step they take and every memory they hold dear. The PaPa PaPa became a proud grandfather in 2009, and from that moment on, he filled all of his grandchildren’s lives with love and joy. He had a unique way of making each grandchild feel special, always ready to spoil them at the drop of a hat, no matter what they needed. Whether it was a call for something small or big, PaPa was there, making their wishes come true. He created memories that will last a lifetime—taking them to the Gas Station, attending football games, and showing up for every adventure they dreamed up. Among all the places he took them, Scoops was a favorite spot, where laughter and ice cream went hand-in-hand. PaPa was more than just a grandfather —he was a role model for the Grands, teaching them how to ride bikes and sharing his love for the outdoors with four-wheelers and golf carts. His generosity, wisdom, and unconditional love will forever be a part of their hearts. The Brother Our loving Brother, Chunkey, will truly be missed by all of us. Chunkey was our only Brother. He loved to fish and loved for Donna to cook him fish on all occasions. We would sit on the banks of the river with our mother on many occasions. He grew up around strong women that shaped him into a sweet and loving man. Chunkey had a spirit like a magnet. He could draw people to him with his charming personality. There will never be another “Chunkey”!!! We will cherish our memories and will forever miss you. With much love, Your Sisters.
