William Franklin McNeil III

William Franklin McNeil, III of Stone Mountain, GA passed on from labor to reward on Friday, June 5, 2020 at Eastside Medical Center South Campus. He was 62 years old. Born on January 23, 1958 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late William Franklin McNeil, Jr., and Hattie Pearl Wells (McNeil). He attended and graduated from George Westinghouse Jr. High School of Career and Technical Education. Bill later attended Polytechnic Institute where he studied electrical engineering. Bill had a passion for math and science. This passion led to his drive to learn computer programming, and he set himself on a path to independently learn and excel in several advanced programming languages. He became one of the most sought after programmers in the Metro Atlanta area. In 1984, Bill met Nuria Williams and they later married and had two children. With dreams for a better life for his family, Bill and Nuria moved to Stone Mountain, GA in 1999. After purchasing their home, and in keeping with his thirst to learn new things, Bill became quite the self-taught home handyman. Bill was a devoted father and grandfather. He was the epitome of a husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. To his grandchildren, he was simply “Pop Pop”. He loved cycling, hiking, camping, swimming, telling the corniest of jokes, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a family man; a role model, and after the passing of his father took on the role of “man of the house” at a very young age. Bill never met a stranger and everyone he met loved to be in his company. His love for people was immeasurable. Bill was preceded in death by his father, William Jr; mother, Hattie; aunts Katie and Emily, and godmother Verda. He was a faithful member of the Berean Christian Church, Stone Mountain, GA. Those left to cherish fond memories are his wife Nuria Maria McNeil (Williams); son Christopher McNeil, daughters Jasmine McNeil and Vonshay Banks, Mother in Law Flora Williams, Brooklyn, NY; sisters Faye Maria Rashid, Latisha Brimage, Brooklyn, NY, and Sheena Brimage, Augusta, GA; Sisters in Law Jenelle Williams, Powder Springs, GA, Ada Williams (Earl), Brooklyn, NY, Lidia Williams Bronx, NY, Doreen Williams, New York, NY; brothers Cha-Ron Brimage, Scottsdale, AZ, Jermell Brimage and Jermaine Brimage, Brooklyn, NY; Brothers in Law Oscar Williams, Wayne Williams (Massiel), Brooklyn, NY, grandchildren Christian McNeil, Christiana McNeil, Harmoni McNeil, and McKenzie Banks , nephews Tirrell Cherry, Sydney Australia, Justin Brimage, Lamar Brimage, Jaheim Brimage, Jaylin Brimage, and Laurenson Walker; aunts Evelyn Swinton of Washington, NC and Gloria Foster of Brooklyn NY; nieces Yaiisah Bembury-McElroy, Jadah Bembury, Samira Brimage, and Shakirya Brimage; god sisters Robin Broadnax and Patrina Reed, a very close cousin Gladys Simmons of Brooklyn, NY, childhood “brothers” Rick Dunn (Rosemary), John Robinson Jr. (Patricia), Rod Randall (Wilamina), Bernard Toussant (Stephanie), and Bert Mahon (Vivienne) as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. William Franklin McNeil III of Stone Mountain, GA passed on June 6, 2020. His services are entrusted to Gregory B. Levett and Sons Funeral Home, Gwinnett Chapel ( 770-338-5558). Graveside Services for William McNeil III will be held Saturday June 13, 2020 at 12:00PM at Hillandale Memorial Gardens In Lithonia Ga. This service will be recorded and streamed live.
