Wayne Howard Bailey

Wayne Howard Bailey, aka “WHB” was born on September 7, 1961 in Corona, New York to the loving parents of Howard and Julia Bailey, who both preceded him in death. Wayne was educated in the New York City Public School System of which ironically, he would later in life be employed. He was baptized and grew up in St. Mark AME Church of Elmhurst, NY. Wayne was active in the Sunday school and Junior Usher Board. Years later, Wayne became part of the construction crew of the new St. Mark edifice. Wayne had a talent for creating caricature drawings and a definite passion for de-jaying music He and his best friend Bruce often “gigged” all over the city playing for private events. The huge speakers, many record crates, amps, etc., were constantly on the move! He also worked in the retail industry under the mentorship of his uncle Christopher Morrison. Wayne was a natural asset in the customer service department. His easy-going personality and ever-present smile earned him the nickname, “Kool Breeze” in the neighborhood. In 2015, Wayne relocated to Decatur, Georgia with his sister Diane. He soon became active in the Cub Scout Troop of his cousin Elijah. Wayne enjoyed going to the weekly meetings and he even went on 2 outdoor camping trips. This was indeed a new experience for him. Another activity he loved was distributing candy to the children on Halloween. The last 4 years of Wayne’s life was filled with spending time with his family…holidays were particularly special. In 2019, Wayne fell ill and was confined to long term care residence until his passing on October 5, 2020. Wayne touched many lives, in many ways and will live on in our hearts forever through many memories, many jokes and his favorite music. Wayne is survived by his sister: Doris-Diane bailey; Aunt: Barbara Morrison; Uncle: Christopher Morrison; Best friend for life, Bruce (Sharon) Shields of Deltona, Florida; Cousins: Edward (Debra Ann) Brown of Memphis, TN, Jill (Robert) Adderly, Christopher (Vera) Morrison II, Cherisse (Retta) Ford, all of Georgia, Jean Brown of Maryland, Annette Brown, and Shirley Robeson of New York; and a host of other family and friends. *** Due to COVID-19 a mask will be required to enter the chapel *** Resting at Gregory B.
