Virginia McLemore

Virginia “Gin” McLemore was the daughter of the late Ralph James and Vada Chambliss McLemore. She was born December 18, 1944 in Sylacauga, Alabama. She was the seventh child of thirteen born to this union. She is preceded in death by siblings, Daisy M. Hutchinson, Nathaniel, Edward, Harold, Linda, and Stanley McLemore and her son Sebastian Gaddis. Virginia attended East Highland High School. She relocated to Brooklyn, New York to join siblings to make a life for herself. While in New York, Virginia pursued interests in early childhood education and became a licensed cosmetologist, working as a hair stylist at Monsieur John for over 20 years. Virginia returned down South and resumed her love of early childhood education. She taught and nurtured several children and families as an in-home childcare provider. Virginia joined and was baptised at Friendship Baptist Church in January 2004. There she served for many years in multiple capacities including the Greeters and Shepard’s Care Ministries. Virginia was fun-loving and shared her love by inviting others to play games with her. She loved cooking, baking, sewing, and crafting and could often be seen completing a puzzle book. On Friday, June 13, 2025 the Lord summoned an angel to bring her home. Virginia was surrounded by loved ones in her final moments. Virginia’s impact and influence on those around her cannot be measured or stated in words. She leaves cherished memories to her beloved children - daughter SaKenna (Kevin) Corbett of Lawrenceville, GA, son David Dunbar of Stranton, PA, son Malik (Shontese) Brown of Grayson, GA; her brothers - John (Hermione) McLemore of Palm Coast, FL, James (Mallum) McLemore of San Francisco, CA, Llewellyn (Jennifer) McLemore of High Point, NC; her sisters - Emily McLemore Phillips of Melbourne, FL, Connie (Howard) Cummings of Melbourne, FL, Contessa (Michael) Willingham of Tuscaloosa, AL. She also leaves her devoted grandchildren: SaBrenna Joyce (Neil) Boggan, M. Terrance Reed II, Courtney T. Gaddis, Kristina D. Gaddis, Brandon D. Gaddis, Corey (Colethal) Dark, Michael D. Gaddis, Tommie L. Gaddis II, Tyrell (Daniel) Dunbar, Berri-Ayana Byron Brown, Maia J. Brown, Jalen M. Brown, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. With special friends to note Jada Lindsay and Eric Castle.
