Hughes McCorkle was born March 11, 1953, in Kansas City, MO to the late Ernest Hughes and Yaeko Kawabata. Tracy loved her family and was devoted to her loved ones. She leaves to treasure her memories a loving husband, Darryl; three children: Jenise (Albert, III) Johnson of Rosharon, TX; Jenelle (Omar) Pieters of Houston, TX and Marcus (fiancé Chanel) McCorkle of Northbridge, MA. Tracy is survived by her sister, Jaymie Hughes of Houston TX; three sisters-in-law: Darla Wade of Gardendale, AL, Durentha “DeeDee” (Ernest) Hines of Livingston, AL and Dawn Ward of Madison, AL; three brothers-in-law: Dion (Amber) Jones of Sugarland, TX, Derek Jones of Fairburn, GA and Duane Jones of Jackson, MS. A loving and caring grandmother, Tracy bragged often of her five grandchildren: Justin, Jaden, Aryn, Drake and Andrew. She was eagerly awaiting the arrival of baby girl McCorkle, the newest addition to the family. Additionally, she leaves the legacy of unwavering love to her family, friends, co-workers and a host of nieces and nephews. Tracy was smart, ambitious and meticulous. She was an active member of the Lincoln High School Class of 71 in Kansas City, MO where she participated in many activities and held several offices. After graduation, she attended Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, MO where she studied Personnel Management (HR). The vast majority of her professional career was spent in the business and accounting industries for various companies. Before moving to Lawrenceville, Georgia, Tracy lived in Houston, Texas for over 25 years where she met her husband, Darryl. The move to Georgia was rewarding and afforded her several lifelong “ballpark” friends, work buddies and a fulfilling career as the Office Manager at Saia LTL Freight for 23 years. Some of Tracy’s hobbies included watching movies, especially scary ones, listening to a variety of music genres, playing games and spending time with family and friends. Tracy was a genuine and generous giver. Her generosity was her personal ministry and her special way of giving back. She found joy and happiness in helping others. Tracy was a true animal lover and provided a home for many pets during her lifetime. Without a doubt, Tracy’s favorite four-legged friends were her three grand dogs: Tiger, Loki and Luna. In keeping with Tracy’s spirit of giving and her love of animals, the family asks that in lieu of flowers you make donations in Tracy’s name to the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter. “The most truly generous persons are those who give silently without hope of praise or reward.” ~ In lieu of flowers, donations may me made to Gwinnett County Animal Shelter.
