Tina S. Braboy

Tina was born on September 7, 1963, the second daughter to Mattie Louise and Freddie Aaron Braboy in Greenville, Mississippi. She attended Greenville High School along with her older sister Freda Vanessa Braboy Williams and brother Darryl White, whom she loved dearly. During her time at Greenville High, Tina belonged to a host of organizations, including the National Honor Society and the Greenville High School Marching Band, where she was a majorette and played the flute; She graduated from Greenville High School in 1981. Tina went on to attend Jackson State University, majoring in Computer Science. On November 19, 1982, she was initiated into the Glamorous Gamma Rho Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Inc., and was a very active member at JSU. Tina graduated from Jackson State University in 1985, proudly holding the title of Ms. Senior. After graduating, Tina got an opportunity to see various parts of the world while establishing her career before planting her roots in Atlanta, Georgia. On December 26, 1996, Tina gave birth to her daughter Brunti A. Givens, whom she adored. After stepping into motherhood, she purchased her first home in Stone Mountain, and it was during the following years Tina found her tribe in Georgia. She joined St. Paul AME Church, where she was a faithful member, dedicating most of her time to their Sunday School Ministry. As an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Tina joined the Phi Tau Omega Chapter. She worked tirelessly on the chapter's various community outreach efforts and was named "Soror of the Year." In addition, Tina served as the President of their Pearls of Vision Foundation, where she led the charge over their higher education scholarship fundraising efforts. Tina was also an active member of the Metro Atlanta JSU Alumni Chapter, the Atlanta NAACP, where she volunteered her time and talents. Tina was a woman of faith and loved by many cousins and friends. She was blessed to be a part of various circles of friends, including "The Angels," her JSU crew, church family, and close circles of friends she acquired over the years in Atlanta. Tina had a smile that could light up any room and had a way of making everyone she met feel special. Tina had a way with her words, always encouraging those she loved. Anyone blessed to know Tina would tell you she was a true gem or, as she would've preferred, pearl. On January 4, 2023, God decided it was time for Tina to return to His arms. While those who loved her will miss her dearly, we understand God loves perfect things and calls home good people too. Tina was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie Louise Braboy. She leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy, devoted daughter Brunti A. Givens, her faithful father, Freddie Aaron Braboy, loving sister and brother-in-law Freda Vanessa Braboy Williams & Earl Williams, Brother Darryl White, son-in-law Craig Grant, Goddaughter Shannon Sheree Watkins and a host of loving cousins, and close friends who will hold her close to their hearts forever.
