Thomas Ralph Tate

Thomas Ralph Tate, a man whose life was a testament of dedication to his faith and family, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024 surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren. He was born on January 8, 1947 to the late Ralph Roosevelt Tate and Willie T. Tate of Trezevant, TN. He was one of seven children and grew up in the Jarrell Switch community in McKenzie, TN. He was a devoted member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church while living in Tennessee. He is currently a member of World Changers Church International for the past 24 years. He was a 1966 graduate of Webb High School in McKenzie, TN. After graduating from high school, Thomas began his employment journey at Milan Arsenal and worked there until he moved his family to Adrian, Michigan to pursue a career in the automotive industry. Thomas worked for General Motors in Adrian, Michigan for 30 years. He was also an entrepreneur, who owned a successful cleaning business, The Joy of Cleaning services, for several years. On November 30, 1968, Thomas Ralph Tate and Jessie Bell Word were married and to this union five children were born. Thomas was not only a devoted family man, but was also a pillar in his community. His dedication extended beyond the walls of his home and workplace. He served as a minister of the gospel for over four decades, spreading messages of the love of Jesus Christ, hope, compassion, and love to all who crossed his path. His commitment to faith and service touched countless lives, leaving an mark on the hearts of those he encountered. He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife of fifty-six years, Jessie Bell Tate; six children: Mark Newbill (Monique), Corey Tate (Bianca), Andrea Tate, Felicia Gordon (Damon), Joy Tate, and Isaiah Tate (Sara): twenty-two grandchildren: twenty-two greatgrandchildren: two brothers; Micheal and Jamie Tate: two sisters; Priscilla Williamson and Linda Pearson: one uncle; Hurley Taylor, Jr. and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Willie T. Tate and two siblings, Willie Hester Perry and Ray Charles Tate. As we bid farewell to Thomas Ralph Tate, we celebrate a life well lived that was characterized by love, service, and an unwavering faith in God. Though he may no longer walk with us, his spirit and teachings will endure in the hearts of his loved ones as a beacon of hope for all to follow.
