Mr. Terry L. Allen

Terry L. Allen was born on December 24, 1943 to the union of William Allen and Willie Mae Allen in Fort Valley, Georgia. He was the youngest of nine siblings. Education – Terry L. Allen received his formal education in the Peach Valley School System in Fort Valley, Georgia. He continued his undergraduate education at Fort Valley State University, where he was awarded the Bachelor of Science Degree. After moving to Atlanta, Georgia, he continued his education journey by obtaining a Master’s Degree of Science. Religion – Terry L. Allen accepted Christ at an early age and attended the Mount Olive CME Church in Fort Valley, Georgia. After moving to Atlanta he became of long time member of West Mitchell Street CME Church. During his membership he served as Chairman of the Steward Board for several years and appointed Steward Emeritus, Sunday School Teacher, Male Chorus Member, Senior Birthday Ministry and he volunteered with the Church Parking Lot Attendant Ministry for the Falcons Football Games. Marriage – Terry L. Allen was united in Holy Matrimony to Shirley Bess in Fort Valley, Georgia and their union was blessed with one son. Profession & Vocation – Terry L. Allen was employed by the Fulton County Government as an Administrator for nearly 35 years and retired in 2010 from the Fulton County Government |Board of Commissioners Office. He effectively worked alongside the Board of Commissioners and was highly regarded amongst his peers and colleagues. During his tenure with the Fulton County Government he quickly advanced in his career. He was a great Advocate for his community and a lobbyists for the Fulton County Community. Personal & Hobbies – Terry L. Allen was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing with friends and family. He loved to travel and he also enjoyed dancing. He would often visit Elery’s in Atlanta every Wednesday evening for dancing with friends. He enjoyed having dinner at one of his favorite places to dine - The Beautiful Restaurant for fine southern cuisine. Terry L. Allen was a Classy Clean Gentleman best recognized as “Tuxedo” he was best known for his well dressed style and high class men’s fashion wear. Boys Club - Literacy Action, Inc. - Boys Clubs of America - Atlanta Planning Advisory Board - Postal Street Academy Affiliate - Lobbyist for the State Government - John H. Harland Boys Club - Kings Ridge Summer Camp and affiliations with the Queen of Hearts Association just to name a few prestigious organizations Terry L. Allen supported. Date of Death & Proceeding Deaths – Terry L. Allen departed this life on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father William Allen and his mother Willie Mae Allen, brothers William Allen Jr., Robert Allen, Benny P. Allen, David Allen, Dave Allen and sisters, Maurice Burney, Mary Smiley and Willa Smith. Survivors – Terry L. Allen is survived by his devoted niece Margaret McLaughlin (Rev. Robert), son, Parish Allen, two grandsons, sister n’ law Florence Allen and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
